Coming this Spring: Old Father Gilmour Plays The Blues
Coming this Spring: Old Father Gilmour Plays The Blues
Does he have enough 'hits' to fill two CDs?
The truth will set you free, but first it will piss you off
Does he have enough to fill one? never mind two.
Can only assume this is going to include some PF tracks?
Yea, must do really.
Separated at birth:
in defense of David Gilmour's publicist, he or she PROBABLY did not get to choose the photo used on a Japanese greatest hits compilation. That photo was taken by Kevin Westenberg for Rolling Stone magazine.

What a shitty tracklist; if you took off 2 or 3 songs it could be a single disc.
The truth will set you free, but first it will piss you off
I was wrong - no Flyd. Doesn't seem that bad to me.
Yeah, I didn't really think he or his UK publicist necessarily had any input. I just thought the photo was bizarrely bad and atypical.
Where's Blue Light? It was the only song that gave him some chart success!
It might have gotten him chart success, but the track that gets played (albeit only occasionally) on the radio is There's No Way Out Of Here.
To me a more unpardonable omission is All Lovers Are Deranged. That was a way better song than Blue Light. And the lyrics were written by that Pete Townshend bloke, too.
OK, Remember, never use David Gilmore's publicist.
Agreed, crappy choice of solo tracks. Could be better. No Mihalis? No The Blue? No Blue Light? Boo!
Actually, there were two or maybe three singles:
Blue Light
Love On The Air
All Lovers Are Deranged
I don't know if All Lovers Are Deranged was released as a single, but he did make a video for it, which appeared on the David Gilmour VHS release that came out soon after About Face, which also included the Live At The Hammersmith Odeon concert video, the Blue Light video, and the After The Floyd documentary about the Euro leg of the tour.
Curiously, the one thing missing is Love On The Air. MTV aired a live clip of the song, presumably taken from the same Hammersmith Odeon concert, but it doesn't appear in the concert video itself, nor does it as a video with the other two songs.
"Blue Light" is on the special 3-disc 'Deluxe' edition along with a signed pair of Dave's dirty underwear.

No "A Boat Lies Waiting" either? That, IMHO, is the best track from the new album. Agreed about the other glaring omissions.
I rather not hire the person who did the cover-art.
Is this even for real? No listing at CD Japan, and googling for it only brings up a bunch of torrent sites (and a couple of previous "Greatest Hits" Russian bootlegs). And why is "No Way" on there twice?
^It looks dubious to me as well. The members of Pink Floyd have extremely tight control over their catalogue, band and solo, hard to believe such a tacky release would be official (yes, I am aware of A Collection Of Great Dance Songs!).
I like how it finishes with Near the End.
