If all people under 35 who buy vinyl are to be considered hipsters, then I guess hipsters are responsible for a lot of the vinyl sales. 60s/70s rock and 50s/60s/70s jazz are the only things I buy on vinyl, apart from Record Store Day collectibles. I'm sure nobody has ever referred to me as a hipster.
Vinyl sales this year will be enormous. Gross revenues from new vinyl is expected to be about half that of CDs in 2015, based on the first half data - a number that many considered unthinkable as little as 5 years ago.
