about a quarter seats still available of a 1,300 capacity venue.

there seem to be a few discounted/groupon options out there for the tour, so check that out should you be on the fence

I've still been considering seeing the Pittsburgh show, but likely won't be able to make it, unless some cheap tix are made available.

Saw their first show in Stroudsburg, Pa. Great show. 3 hours including the intermission. All I can say is the combination works! Only negative was the reggae version of "Time and a Word" but even that got saved by great soloing. Don't miss this!

Got around to watching most of the D(ebacle)VD tonight, and I really enjoyed Time and a Word. Sure, it's cheesy, but in a fun way, with, like you said, some great soloing.

I do, as well. I don't get the hate some have for it. I get rolling your eyes at the Bob Marley lines, but I think it works well.

I think these are really insteresting reinterpretations of those songs. I like it. Gonna have to get that debacle VD.

I thought it was a very strong performance by the band. I was ready for anything and pleasantly surprised at how well this all worked out. Jon looks great, his voice is strong, and the band especially on the Jean-Luc songs is ferocious. Jean-Luc is as always a pleasure to see and hear. I loved it! No Baron Brown on bass tonight, I think it was Keith Jones.

The video of And You and I posted above only shows the first half of the song - Ponty and keyboardist Minko performed the rest of the song as a duo, with an amazing interpretation - I thought this was sublime (This video was shot at the 10/23 show, but pretty identical to the Keswick 10/27 show):

This was a surprise, at least to me, and a definite highlight:

Saw the first show last Friday at the Sherman Theater in Stroudsburg, PA. Another bucket list cross-off as I have finally seen Ponty live. Absolutely stellar!!!!!!!

Might want to rephrase that. Seems kinda painful.

Wonderful show at the Keswick! With all the "debacle" talk around here I was somewhat worried going in (bad turnout, etc.) but all fears were completely unfounded. Not a sellout but still pretty full, Jon sounded wonderful (probably the best I've heard him in the past 8 years or so), and JLP always brings the goods. Never knew it was a combo I needed in my life until last night. And the rest of the band was fantastic! I loved how the crowd stood for the last song and kept standing throughout the encore. If you were on the fence with this one, just GO.

The Keswick show was pretty great. Maybe it was just me, but I had trouble hearing the bass and sometimes the guitar during the first half. Though I certainly enjoyed the first half, I felt the second half was way stronger, starting off acoustically. I could also very clearly now hear all instruments. Overall, the entire night was fantastic, but below are a few things that really stood out to me. Seeing them again in a couple weeks in NYC - can't wait!

    Highlights:
    • Ponty's playing - been a fan of his forever, but apart from his RTF appearance, had never seen him live - just amazing to hear him play this classic material. And being a huge fan of his, I was thrilled that he got a few songs with just him and the band.
    • "State of Independence" - always been a fan of this song and the album it came from - so happy to hear this done live, and it sounded great.
    • "And You and I" - like the APB album version, it was pretty short - but then came the violin/keys duet of Ponty and Minko playing the ending of AYAI that was just sublime
    • "Soon" - Started quietly of course and Ponty's violin sounded terrific on it, but it ended with the full band and just "Wow"
    • "Re-Remembering Molecules" - outstanding piece which led off the encore
    • "Long Distance Runaround" - really, really different rearrangement
    • "Roundabout" and that killer bass solo that led into it.

    The not-so-great:
    • "Time and a Word"/"One Love" - it was performed fine I guess, and Jon seems to be having a blast doing it, but I am just not a fan of this arrangement
    • The idiots that felt the need to scream out to Jon whenever it got a bit quiet. Sadly, Jon acknowledged one comment made about getting too deep (which was pretty funny), but that seemed to spur on that same guy and many, many others for the rest of the night. I guess folks do this on the off chance that Jon might hear you and respond somehow? But dont they realize what jackasses they are making of themselves?

Jon's sounding really good in those videos. Like his old self! Hope he can hold out through the tour.

"Re-Remembering Molecules" w/YIND tease. (Also, Dixie Dregs-like solo's by everyone.)

Can't wait till they hit the big apple. Should really be smoking by then.

End of LDR > "Renaissance Of The Sun" from opening night in Stroudsburg.

Again, should be smoking by the time they get here.

Can't believe I didn't see ANYONE I know at the Philly show! Amazing.

Really a great show. Jon sounded quite good. Jean-Luc is still a favorite of mine and his material was much more of a treat for me. And You And I into Eulogy For Oscar Romero was my highlight. Simply melted me.
Keith Jones was really good on Bass. Rayford Griffon just punished his drum kit. I've missed seeing him play all these years since last with Ponty I think.

Now either I was mis-hearing some really bad clams or Jamie Glaser was f'ing up all over the place. I kept hearing really bad things but he was completely unphased. Worst was in the beginning of Enigmatic Ocean (which was also quite abridged) by the way. (Sorry for spoilers.) Seems to be a good player but can't forgive that much damage.

Long ride from/back to Baltimore last night, but worth the trip. Amazing what goodness two 70 year old dudes can deliver.
