    Rush-Specialst subject on tonight's Mastermind!

For those living in the UK it starts at 8pm on BBC 1.

See if I can beat my previous score from the King Crimson topic, only knew four answers!

I want to try and find this online to see how I do.

The contestent did well, think he only got one question wrong!

  4. #4
He got two wrong, he didn't know the bands lead technician!

I found it. Being the Rush geek that I am I nailed everything without even thinking about it.

But sitting in my house easily rattling answers off is probably much different than being put on the spot like that.

Oh, man, I only got ten questions right. The minutiae like "Where was 'All the World's a Stage' recorded" eluded me. I did know Ray Daniels, though.

Where do you find this? I would have got the All The World's A Stage question right for sure - I've been to Massey Hall many times!

    Thanks!

I got the Jack Secret question right, which he got wrong, but I only knew that from reading the Visions book years ago and it stuck with me. There were two I didn't know: the fictional city in 2112, which I forgot, and the name of the orchestra arranger on Clockwork Angels, which I don't think I ever did know.

Fun game! I wish there were more like this!

    I'm a huge fan of Rush's music

I got 2,4,6,8,10, and 12 right and sensed a pattern: even questions most Rush fans would know and then odd questions that Rush fans might get right, who know what Neil Peart ate for breakfast on March 29, 1978.

But the pattern switched as I got 13 right and then 14 wrong. dang - I was hoping for perfect evens!

The contestant said Michael Kamen, who did the orchestrations on Counterparts. It would have been hard for Kamen to do the orchestrations for Clockwork Angels, though, as he's been dead for several years.

But any true Rush fan would have risen from the grave to do a final orchestration.

Eggs and sausages, if I'm not mistaken.

Washed down with coffee! You should have been the contestant....

The guy won the round and nailed most of the general questions too. Wonder what will be his specialist subject in the next round?

Megadon was the only answer that had me pause for a second. It's been ages since I've studied the 2112 liner notes and read the short story, but fortunately I was able to recall it quite quickly.

If this show was in the US, the questions would have been easier still I'd wager.

I'd like to come up with some questions for you guys, but I'm guessing some people would Google the harder ones.

I'd imagine most of the hard ones couldn't be googled...

Proceed with caution if you decide to Google "hard ones".

Is Massey Hall still hosting gigs? I've got the CD with the Neil Young 71 gig from there.

Yes, Massey Hall is still a popular venue for bands who play to 2,000-3,000 capacity or so.
