    Albums by one hit wonders

I used to have The Blues Image album that had their hit Ride Captain Ride on it, but I can't remember even if I liked it or not. The Stories album About Us which had Brother Louie on it isn't a bad album at all. Are there some albums out there that you think are good which had the only hit by that artist?

Two "One Hit Wonder" albums I liked were Sniff N The Tears album Fickle Heart with the song "Drivers Seat" and I also liked Diesel's album Watts In A Tank which had "Sausilito Summer Nights"

Both bands have other albums but Ive never heard them

Sugarloaf I guess was a "two" hit wonder.. as I recall all of their other songs were rather forgettable..

^The Dream Academy had another hit besides "Life In A Northern Town" - "Love Parade". They also had a few other minor hits and did 3 albums.

Not quite a one-hit wonder, but Procol Harum almost qualify, as do Focus.

Once he went solo I would call Gary Wright a one-hit wonder with Dream Weaver

Sugarloaf had a few other not so huge hits, such as "Don't Call Us We'll Call You" (they play them on XM), but frankly, if you hear "Green Eyed Lady" and then hear the other stuff, the rest of the output is a bit of a let down.

I've already mentioned Bob Lind many times, so I won't bang on about him again, but he does need to be included in this listing, because he is perhaps the quintessential one-hit wonder. One mega-hit, topping the charts in many places, and not a single other chart entry. He has done four studio albums (not a huge output over 40+ years) plus one live album. And yes, they are all good.

MC 900 Foot Jesus had only one hit in his short solo career - "If I Only Had a Brain," but the album it came from (One Step Ahead of the Spider) is really good. That video was pretty cool, too.

The Zager & Evans second, s/t album for RCA is great. Unfortunately the album containing their one hit "2525" was bad and it was the one people bought.

The group Shango had a minor hit with their song "Day After Day" but their first album had several songs that were as good or better.

Their second album wasn't as good.

That is a big hit song from the 60s I find totally unbearable. 'Where Do You Go To My Lovely' from the same year is another.

I unexpectedly heard "Where Do You Go To" the other day on radio and was surprised anew by how good and crisp the production was, as well as by how it's a genuine folk ballad that's on a par with many of Dylan's songs.

Peter Sarstedt did have a couple of other very minor hits. Some of his other songs were rather good, others not so much.

Trivia time: his brother Richard, who had a recording career under the stage name of Eden Kane, later went into acting and appeared on several episodes of Star Trek.

"Love Is Alive" was also a hit from the same album.

Can't agree with that. The cod-sophistication of the lyrics and that accordion...

The other hit here was 'Frozen Orange Juice' but that's seldom heard any more.

How many hits did The Lemon Pipers have beyond 'Green Tambourine'? I don't have their albums but they did a great bit of long psychedelia called 'Through With You'.

More Sarstedt trivia: the Sarstedt brothers (there are three of them) are the only brothers in the history of music to all have top 5 hits as solo artists.

My buddy was the king of buying one-hit wonder albums.

One I remember was Kajagoogoo - It had 'Too Shy'

I remember "Really Wanna Know You" by Gary Wright from the early years of MTV.

"Through with You" is a fantastic track, with a very spacey, experimental middle section. Most of the rest of the Green Tambourine album is cheerful bubble-psych along the lines of the hit, except for a couple of growly, Steppenwolf-like hard rock tracks (which is apparently what the band really wanted to do, but the label wanted bubblegum).

The Vapors of “Turning Japanese” fame. Two albums, both are solid power-pop releases.

Of course Focus, who have much more of worth than “Hocus Pocus.” Technically, Flash are a one-hit wonder (“Small Beginnings” was a minor hit). I like In the Can much more than the first Flash album, though.

Diesel had a second album? I always thought their hit was a Tom Petty song. Their drummer was Pim Koopman, formely of Kayak (who almost became one-hit wonders themselves, only “I Want You to Be Mine” stalled outside the top 40).

Hit the top 20. Seriously bizarre music video (directed by Brian Grant, I believe).

Confirmed Bachelors: the dramedy hit of 1883...
