My fav ELP album!
Have the Mofi. Hoping this will be a welcome addition to that.
It's a great album, this is an auto-buy for me.
Ever since I got my iPod, I've re-arranged the tracklist to this:
Hoedown
The Sheriff
From the Beginning
The Endless Enigma > Fugue > The Endless Enigma Pt. 2
Trilogy
Living Sin (one of my favorite ELP songs)
Abaddon's Bolero
I like Hoedown as the opening and the way the last few seconds of From the Beginning melt in to the beginning of The Endless Enigma.

I'm in!
I love this track too. It's a bit like Yes's "A Venture" in that it's a little gem that gets lost among the epics. It's kind of a throwback to the Nice, too: it has that nasty quality (someone in another thread called it "greasy") that the Nice had but which mostly got left behind by the far more polished ELP.
As much as I love ELP's epics, I love the more typical verse-chorus things like Living Sin, Bitches Crystal, A Time & A Place, the song Brain Salad Surgery, Tiger in the Spotlight, So Far To Fall, For You (love Lake's vocals) and so on. I've long felt that they made some bad decisions after the BSS tour ended, I think they should have used the hiatus to release their long-talked-about solo albums (KISS did it in 1978) and come back with an album of shorter, 4-5 minute songs. Oh well.....

I've been waiting for this one for a looooooooooong freakin' time!

"MARKLAR!"
Favorite ELP album. I'm psyched. And I think it's by FAR the best sounding album of theirs.
The remaster will do nothing to help the lyrics of "Trilogy".

Jakko doing the mix, not SW!
"Always ready with the ray of sunshine"
You just have to re-imagine it as a jazz ballad (and the best example of a synth solo translated into a scat vocal)...

I'm holding out for the Wilson-mixed 5.1 super-duper walletbuster special anniversary extra adjectives edition.
I always took the first part of Trilogy (the song) as a parody of a Victorian romantic song... the lyrics can't be serious.
I confess, I've never paid enough attention to the lyrics to remember anything about them. Googling now...
Yikes... Well let's hope they're not serious. lol
The music is still awesome though.

As far as I know, no. SW just stated that he liked the first two albums but lost interest in ELP beyond that point, so he declined to do those. I seem to remember he had some interaction with Lake, but I don't recall reading any account of a falling out. Certainly his interaction wasn't so close it prevented the inclusion of what turned out not to be a ELP-related track at all, on the initial pressing of the "Tarkus" reissue.

My favorite album by ELP! Rolled many doobies while enjoying this one, agree this is probally the best sounding of all their studio albums.

That it is! In fact it's odd to me when a band puts out an album that's a great recording/production, then it's followed by one that's not even close. Trilogy and BSS is a great example; so is Genesis' SEbtP and TLLDOB.
As far as the music itself, it's a toss up between this one and BSS for me; their best two.
I don't have 5.1, but I'm happy for you guys who do!
Favorite ELP album, autobuy for me. Looking forward to this release. Any word on bonus or alternate tracks yet???

Tarkus, Trilogy and Brain Salad Surgery are three of the finest albums I almost never listen to anymore.
And as far as the lyrics go - did people really listen to ELP for that?

I bet "Trilogy" is a piece where Lake had to shoehorn some lyrics to Emerson's music.
Someone is having fun on Wikipedia.

"Hoedown" was composed after Emerson first went to Romania at the George Enescu Festival. Thus it involves traditional Romanian music elements.
