I've seen threads on here about prog songs that feature the harmonica, accordion and tambourine but never a gong. That is until now.

There aren't many I can think of. Pink Floyd on Saucerful, More, Ummagumma and in the Pompeii film. Glass on "No Stranger to the Skies". Maybe Jimi on Electric Ladyland although I'd have to listen again to see if it's gong or just big cymbals.
Pierre Moerlen's Gong. Off the top of my head I can't think of any Daevid Allen's Gong songs that actually feature a gong.
Toccata-ELP
Two off the top of my head:
Yes- the Ancient (starts the track)
ELP - Tarkus (somewhere towards the end before the organ kicks in again)
I'm sure Neil Peart has used one but I can't think of any specific examples off the top of my head.
Didn't Kansas have a gong on "Magnum Opus?"
Music isn't about chops, or even about talent - it's about sound and the way that sound communicates to people. Mike Keneally
Whichever ones in Floyd's Live at Pompeii on which Roger is going apeshit with that Gong. It is Roger, isn't it?
And is it Umma Gumma on which they have the photo of all the equipment on the road - I think the gong is in that photo so presumably they used it.
Does Rush - A Passage to Bangkok use one?
A gong opens Can You Understand-Renaissance.

"please do not understand me too quickly"-andre gide
I can vaguely remember a Brand X piece that I *think* has a gong in it. Maybe someone with better memory can conjure it up.
Queen - Ogre Battle. A backwards gong starts it, and a regular gong ends it.
Gnish-gnosh borble wiff, shlauuffin oople tirk.
Nights in White Satin - at the end.
Guapo - Five Suns

This is the section that is also reprised at the end.
Good call, forgot about that one.

I think there's some sorts of gongs on Vangelis "Albedo 0.39" (the album, not the track).

Whoops. OK. You got me.
There's also a gong at the beginning of "Brother of Mine" by the Yes spinoff group ABWH. I would post a clip but most of us have heard it a million times before.
Also, fittingly there's one right before the 2:40 mark on this track and also a few times later on.

Jade Warrior's Island label period featured a lot of gong.

Do you mean only studio recordings, or does live count? I'm sure Jame Muir banged a gong somewhere on Larks' Tongues In Aspic Part 1 (or on those sessions at least.) Bruford goes heavy duty on the gong(s) at the beginning of Doctor Diamond on the live shows that comprise the Starless boxset, (and on various improvs.) etc., etc. Bonham banged the gong at the crescendo/climax of The Rain Song (but maybe that was just in concert?)
A friend dragged me to see Boston over the summer--and the drummer hit the gong once during the show: i think during the instrumental ("Fanfare"?) that leads into Long Time(?). What made me laugh was that the gong (festooned with the 'Boston' logo on it, of course) would rise and lower throughout the concert (even though he only hit it that one time during the show). I made a joke that the drum roadies must have gotten tired from raising and lowering it (even though that it was probably motorized).
Now, what about hitting a gong that's also been set aflame?!? (which metal band did that--probably a few).
"Wouldn't it be odd, if there really was a God, and he looked down on Earth and saw what we've done to her?" -- Adrian Belew ('Men In Helicopters')
Mahavishnu Orchestra ... if I remember right, both the Birds of Fire and Between Nothingness and Eternity albums start with a gong.

Swans started off the show I saw this summer with a ten minute gong/metals duet. Hypnotic stuff.
There's gong on various versions of Zappa's "King Kong."
I want to dynamite your mind with love tonight.
