New Pink Floyd Album Cover Art- Thoughts?

Curious what you all think, and here is more info on the release-

    PF.jpg

Album will be released on November 10.

"It is not based on The Big Spliff

Only a few seconds of the original Big Spliff (which was created by Andy Jackson) appear.

It does not contain any source from The Soundscape (Pulse Cassette)

Rick Wrights original recording from playing the Organ at The Royal Albert Hall during afternoon rehearsals in June 1969 has been mixed in.

The LP is based on four different pieces each taking a side each.

    There is one song with lyrics called "Louder Than Words". This song is concerned with providing a full stop to the Pink Floyd saga, embracing the full history of the band. Gilmour sings ;

    We bitch and we fight
But this thing that we do
    It's louder than words
    The sum of our parts
    The beat of our hearts
    It's louder than words

It focuses on the more atmospheric and digressive aspects of Pink Floyd and includes snippets of conversation.

Phil Manzanera played a key role throughout the project which started in August 2012 by Gilmour asking him to listen to the jam sessions.

Nick Masons drumming was the first element to be recorded in November 2013.

Gilmour and Mason spent in total 30 days over dubbing guitars and recording drums."

I like the cover, though I was hoping for something more "Storm-like." But, it works.

Was really wishing that "The Big Spliff" would have played more of a role.

For those who are interested--we have the Andy Jackson album released the week before on 3rd November. This is all song based. Rather excellent we think at Esoteric Towers.

Video to follow in next few weeks on one track. I would have uploaded our packshot but only have it in hi res at the moment which this site cant seem to handle if I try and upload.

is it entitled The Big Spliff?
does it contain contributions from Rick, David and Nick?
Why is it whenever someone mentions an artist that was clearly progressive (yet not the Symph weenie definition of Prog) do certain people feel compelled to snort "thats not Prog" like a whiny 5th grader?

Four different pieces, each taking a side each, sounds like potentially good times to me

Art is fine. Music is what I'm most interested in anyway (although I agree with Scott...a slightly more Storm-esque cover would have been a similarly-fitting tribute to his passing as well as Rick's).
If you're actually reading this then chances are you already have my last album but if NOT and you're curious:

My interest is vey much piqued at four side long pieces, and I'm more than happy with the cover art, but like those before a more Storm like image might have been more fitting.

I like the cover art. This is my first time hearing of "The Big Spliff" or Andy Jackson. Any info you can provide would be appreciated by this Pink Floyd fan (I do know what a spliff is).

    Neither here nor there.

    I do like the font.

It seems a little... nice. Cool, but PF was always a little dark.

It doesn't feel like a PF album cover, reminds me too much of dream theaters cover. Miss Thorgersons work though for sure. Though perhaps the boat is a nod to the videos from MLoReason? The music is the most important. There's an audio clip up on the PF site.

I like it and the packaging looks very nice, high quality.

Very interested in hearing more of this, but I'd probably buy it without hearing anymore than I have.

"(but I'm not sure about this, because The Division Bell didn't have such qualities in my opinion.) "

It wasn't 4 side long pieces that were mostly instrumental either. This is.

And that is why I have higher hopes for this release (pun intended of course). That being said, if it has the same kind of vibe as Cluster One or Marooned, I'm not sure it will sound adventurous to my ears. I fear some kind of "easy listening" vibe. We'll hear.

I was thinking that too. But didn't Storm do their last few? This reminds me of the one with the airplane on it.

I don't dislike the cover art, but it feels too obvious, too simplistic for a Floyd cover. It is (too) heavily symbolic and looks like a decent photoshop.
I hope the musical content features has a more mysterious or adventurous quality (but I'm not sure about this, because The Division Bell didn't have such qualities in my opinion.)

NO, the DT cover was by Hugh Syme.

OK, well this one reminds me of his style. I wonder if he did it.

It is work of 18-year old digital artist Ahmed Emad Eldin http://www.theguardian.com/music/201...k?CMP=soc_1945

The Photoshop is really simple. Amateur hour. Blending of 2 stock images. The best Floyd covers are ones in which you get sucked into, and can gaze at for hours. This holds your attention for no longer than a glance. It's also too bright for Pink Floyd. Storm took a great amount of time, building, and orchestrating the shoots for his covers. This fails on all fronts. But wow... 18 years old and he gets a Floyd cover. That's amazing, if not the art itself.

So I take it Roger Waters was not involved in the making of this recording?

The album cover looks nice but I don't really care for the lettering.
