Anyone on PE from Las Vegas?

I know this is a long shot. I'm retiring from Colorado, radio, and much of my prog stash and heading for Las Vegas at the end of September. This is to be closer to family, friends, and warmer winters. Would be nice to have a few more contacts in the area.

Good Gods, why would anyone want to move here? Well, it's your call.

Sure, warmer winters here but the summers are a wee bit hotter than Colorado. It's still pretty damned hot.

If you've family here then there's probably not much I can help with. I was born here and lived most of my life here, so I do know a fair bit about the town. If there's something they can't help you with, I should have somewhat of a clue.

Family and friends in CA. One long-time friend in Vegas. Can't afford to retire to CA (my first choice) and need to be close to a VA medical center. I burned out on CO several years ago... but otherwise I'm ok with "hot". I'll keep you in mind for a clue or two. Thanks!

Too bad Blue Vino moved east.

I lived in Vegas from 92-95. It's one of the more affordable places to live out west (if you stay out of the casinos!). There should still be houses that were abandoned in the crash, which might lead to good deals.
Summer just plain sucks there though. I couldn't deal with it. It's about double the size now since I moved away and I can really tell when I go back to visit.
I'd worry about water more than anything.

Thanks for the responses. Have edited my first post (removed link to cd list) and will set it up again AFTER I have made the move. Yep, "hot" and water issues have been taken into account. They're a concern but not a deal-breaker. Now, on the other hand, Blue Vino........
