Pretty sure the Bukowski book is real though. Although a lot of these aren't really for kids either.
Kind of like the Uncle Floyd show (from New Jersey) about 30 years or so ago (and Soupy Sales before that). Ostensibly kid shows that were really not for kids.

DThere is a book Ive had since the late 60s called "Streulpeter"(I think I spelled it wrong) that is wildly innapropriate. It consist of short tales of naughty children and what happens to them(starvation/burned alive/ thumbs cut off etc) . I beleive it was originally in German. I bought it from tbe Scholastic Book Club when I was 7.
We own one of those -- "On the Night You Were Born." It's a very sweet little book about reminiscing on your child's birthday.
"Everything I Want to Do Is Illegal" is actually not a children's book at all.
I've seen "Everybody Poops" and "The Gas We Pass" in the bookstore. My daughter would probably laugh her head off if I ever read those to her. She's 3 and totally into gross bodily humor.
Some of the rest of those ... well, you just have to wonder what they were thinking!
