I can totally see that. Similar to playing string instruments in alternate tunings, you can really mess with 'yer brain 🧠.
I don't really do FB, but might have to for these. Do you know if they are on YT also?
Hey Bob....are you familiar with "Hello Mr Sparrow" from The Seaside? I've been obsessed and learning the drum part on my commute (just to play it for fun). Brilliant tune! Every section is is...
For those of us "cursed" with perfect pitch, transposed keys make music you are familiar with almost unlistenable, or just very uncomfortable (at the very least). It's like looking outside and seeing...
Destined Solitaire is great and probably equal with Comfortzone on my next tier of favs. I loooooove both "Coup de Grāce" and "Abigail Question" from that one, plus pretty much everything else. That...
For me: The Sane Day and Sleeping in Traffic One and Two are three of my favorite prog albums post-2000. The Sane Day is one of the greatest double cd length albums I've ever heard. Nary a wasted or...
I've only hung out with Kerman a handful of times (and had some great email correspondences over the years), yet I could tell that he is one of the coolest cats out there. Warm, friendly, funny,...
Sweet!!!!
Obsessed with Sheik Yerbouti all over again. Side four is one I can take to the grave with me ("Wild Love", "Yo Mama"). Been spinning the vinyl.
It's definitely a trio album.
Cheers and agreed. It seems that particular magic has long since gone. Even strictly acoustic instruments tend to have a modern sheen to them now. Lightning in a bottle....
I love FZ's guitar tones during this era (Switchmaster?). Do we know if "Meow" from YCDTOSA Vol 5 is the same gig as this set?
Anyway, that show looks fookin brilliant! Can't wait to hear this.
Imagine hanging out with that crew....I wouldn't even know where to start.
Yeah it's pretty bad. Cheesy 🧀.
I played my vinyl yesterday...I actually prefer the OG cd from the 80s or whenever, slightly more detail up top. This fuckin album is solid top 5 for me, which hurts because then either 2112, Caress,...
He's back! Happy 40th P/G!

^ Who's bringing the Graffix?
From the documentary about Jeff, he doesn't seem motivated by money.....ever?.....he is all about the music. Does he turn down concert touring money and royalty checks? Probably not, nor should he....
I just learned that Jeff re-recorded a bunch of his hits in 2012 and released them on Mr Blue Sky: The Very Best Of Electric Light Orchestra. It seemed he wasn't thrilled by the sonics of his 70s...
I've been revisiting and enjoying these red, blue, and yellow rekkids. Side one of Three/Pair is outstanding. Side two gets nice and out there, especially "Industry".
Modern day concert DVDs usually change camera angle every eighth note or so, so most of it is unwatchable for me. There are exceptions of course.
Happy to see Aston "Family Man" at 13. I loooove his playing, I really got into Marley massively over the past whatever years now. He's so goddamn groovy - an absolute master.
I think Fripp would he proud that his thread probably mentions "cunt" more times than any other thread on page three, cunts.
Time is pretty damn killer.
You should dig into the whole thing, maybe one complete show at a time. I looooooooove the You Are What You Is material, but I am admittedly a huge fan of that album. Stuff like Goblin Girl sounds...
Sorry for the slight detour (but it does kinda pertain to this):
is it possible to add photos here from my Android phone?
Yup!
Anybody hit Halloween 81? This is probably my most played album of the past few weeks. These shows must have been insane. I've always loved the '82 band (YCDTOSA vol. 5, disc 2) in Europe...
Is the drummer the only original dude left? Kinda like Skynyrd these, except that they have zero.

These are words with a D this time
Dialog, duologue, diatribe
Dissention, declamation
Double talk, double talk
Possibly none. Or possibly like with my system: the cd is ALWAYS brighter than playing the same recording on my turntable, which is sometimes a positive or a negative, depending on the recording....
:)
I spun Discipline last night in headphones for the first time in a while - it's probably been seven years (or probably more) since I spun this sucker. Honestly I was blown away all over again....
What can I really say about Everton? Even though I live in the states, this team has managed to sour my mood on many weekends....for years. I swear this team is cursed. If we stay up it'll be the 3rd...
and Cardiacs
You're giving me the idea of starting a thread about prog songs that mention meat in their titles....
When they're sick of the KC stuff, they can call themselves "Meat" and do Mothers of Invention covers, or 70's porn soundtracks I guess? Ask Rick L - he's an expert on this subject.
I dig it (mostly). Seems like a new sound for them.
Nice! Was Thile involved? My wife's first cousin is Andy Falco, who plays guitar in The Infamous Stringdusters. He took over guitar duties when Chris Eldridge left to join Punch Bros.
10/10 show. My wife who can sometimes have "enough" bluegrass after 3 or 4 songs was basically disappointing when it ended. It was that good and compelling. His stories with playing with Bill Monroe...
We saw Del McCoury Band in Newton, NJ last night. Dude is fucking 85 and still absolutely killing it! Even dealing with any hecklers, albeit in a respectful southern gentleman manner. The band is...
We listened to side one and three of Out/Blue last night on vinyl. Loved it.
Bingo. Happened many times for me. One of the wonders of music.
He doesn't owe anybody ANYTHING at this point. He's not a pet to boss around.
So much snow being discussed here - I'm confused - are we talking about nose candy or the white frozen stuff from the sky?
12.8 mil monthly listeners on Spotify, nothing to sneeze at. Floyd is at 18.6 mil, so there is some perspective. I'm actually very surprised at how popular they still are. BTW, I love my old man's...
I'd pay $200 if he sang "Soon" with the "Go Screw Yourself" lyrics.
I'm so interested in seeing Vai jam on this stuff...
Vinnie is on another planet. Fun with Vinnie in 7/4:

...and definitely, Carey is a badass. Going to be a great fit for this.
egg-zactly.
If you don't dig his vocals, it's gonna be a hard slog. He always reminded me of those 90's boys band vocals, which is the reason I generally don't listen to his stuff except for the 1st...
Vai is a monster musician, and he may surprise us all by playing Fripp's parts either verbatim and/or Frippy with a side of homemade Vai sauce. Fripp's parts are definitely not too difficult for...
The new SGM album is flippin' fantastic. It's hard to see where this one sits since it's still new, but man it is a monster.
Zappa/Mothers
Gimme dat, gimme dat
Blow job
Gimme dat, give me de chromium cob
You'll love it!
It looks just like a TeleFunken U-47.
