New Pink Floyd album in October

Yep, really true it seems. Pretty much straight from the source (and also mentioned on Polly Samson's Twitter):

Is this just another Gilmour PF tribute album featuring a zillion session musicians or is it the real mcoy!

    No Roger, no PF!

Oh dear. I am afraid I will have to invoke the "OMG, AUTOBUY" function now.

It would be so very nice if Waters had some involvement. The FB entry refers to it as a Richard Wright tribute based on some sessions in 1994. Hmm. So is this what was previously thought of as a Gilmour solo album or is this another project altogether?

Yes, I just saw this somewhere else- seems legit, and it's not April!

No doubt some will make us feel guilty about looking forward to a 'new' album by an 'old' act. But I think there will be considerable interest in this, and particularly if Roger Waters is involved though I can't see that. Some posthumous projects have been very well done.

I am shocked to say the least. Would love for Roger to be involved but at this stage of the game I'll take what I can get. For me, a Waterless Pink Floyd is better than no Pink Floyd.

    Regards,
    Jon

According to Durga, Gilmour has enough solo material to fill a double solo album.

This is probably the stuff that everybody was annoyed was being left out of the Division Bell box.

Apparently, some of it was recorded at least 4 years ago. Rick Wright is supposed to be on it.

That's what I was thinking, too.

I blame Wynton, what was the question?

Make that 20 years as some of the material was recorded during the Division Bell sessions.

From Polly Samson on Twitter :
"Btw Pink Floyd album out in October is called "The Endless River". Based on 1994 sessions, [it's] Rick Wright's swansong and very beautiful."

That's what I was thinking. Gilmour will be hanging out by the pool afterward. And you'll see him in the Comfort Inn breakfast room making a waffle.

    Not.

Waters was of course right people are SO FOOLED by marketing and brand names. Actual piece of doo-doo wrapped in a cd sleeve --shit. Same piece of shit slapped with the label Pink Floyd on it--masterpiece bought by potentially millions.

OR-, alternatively 21st Century Scizoid Band practices for US tour. Meh. Same group of musicians practice of tour with Fripp= pandemonium because the "Beast is back". Playing only music "the Beast" can play.

This is what I hate about rock and roll-the hype and marketing. Love the music and musicians.
