I be laughin'. Have you seen those vinyl "finds" on YT? I catch myself watching some of them from time to time. I don't know if people actually spend that much money on all of that or if they fudge/fake some of that, if so though, they're hardcore.

Sure, it's all in good fun, but did anyone notice the huge error in this video? It's actually in there twice, and a totally missed opportunity.

Who said vinyl sales were slowing? According to new data revealed by the Entertainment Retailers Association (ERA), more money was spent on vinyl album sales than digital album downloads in the UK last week."

When one of them outstrips free streaming I'll sit up and take notice.

    Well...
Vinyl sales' rate of increase is slowing. But - for now, anyway - it's still growing.

Turntable sales are still increasing at a growing rate. And not in the low level, Crowsley or Audio Technica type of TTs. Mid level turntables show no sign of slowing.

New pressing plants are opening all the time. There is no a pressing plant anywhere in the world, that does not have a long waiting list for orders.

Newbuilt, the German company that made some of the best vinyl presses, has acquired the original blue prints and started producing new presses.

This is just a short list.

That's cause it's so expensive. Let's see the number of albums comparison.

Some new vinyl is also limited edition, such as the new Eye album "Vision and Ageless Light" which I just purchased.

That vinyl is getting more popular these days is probably more of a fashion/hipster phenomenon, than an expression of sound awareness.
Considering Christmas is coming up, vinyl sales will too.

I'm just reporting what I'm reading.

New vinyl shipments were down 9% in the first half of 2016, from last year during the same time period. Actual revenue was only down 6.3%, likely due to price increases over the previous year.

Must be Monday morning. Still not seeing the mistake.

I'm definitely not a hipster. Most of my vinyl is over 30 years old. However, I still buy new vinyl. I never got rid of my old vinyl, since I've always liked the sound of vinyl better.

    You are not alone.

Hipsters seem to be buying vinyl releases of Hipster bands.

General vinyl buying seems to be more spread around all types of people.

I make weekly trips to Amoeba in Hollywood to by used CD's and some vinyl from time to time, and the crowded vinyl sections of jazz and classical are hardly filled with hipsters.

There's a used record store in my neighbourhood called A Separate Reality that sells nothing but vinyl, and most of their vinyl is progressive rock. I picked up the original "Trilogy" LP used, since the new reissued LP from Amazon was bad (it was too quiet).

QFT. The article cites dollars, not volume.
