I think Kerry Minnear can slip into the discussion, though he didn't play and sing at the same time. A special vocalist as either a lead or ensemble voice as well as vocal arrangements. Live, a part of the GG drum bash and played vibes. Played drum parts on songs Design, Winning and some of the unreleased songs on Scraping The Barrel, as well as all of the vibes, marimbas, tympanis etc. in the catalog, and arranged drum parts ( as can be heard on Under Construction ).

I've always enjoyed Magmùa best when he sings (I almost think he's the best vocalist in the band, actually).... But AFAIK, he (generally) stops drumming when he sings....

Not progressive I know, but the drummer with Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons was a good lead singer and complimented Valli perfectly.

I wouldn't describe Ginger Baker as a lead singer, but he has a distinctive spoken voice on Baker Gurvitz Army's Mad Jack and Time.

Gerry Polci. I thought he had a great voice, to my ears better than Valli, who could get a bit nasal and grating with his timbre. I will concede that his voice is less distinctive than Valli's. Bob Gaudio must have liked Polci, his voice is all over the big comeback hits on the Who Loves You albums and even more so on its flop follow-up, Helicon.

Incidentally, despite its pretentious title, Helicon is not a foray into prog/space rock. More's the pity, after their stabs at the psychedelic concept album (Genuine Imitation Life Gazette) and blue-eyed soul (Chameleon) that might have been interesting.
