I'd add Easter by Marillion.
I'd also add Think Of Me With Kindness - GG.

What can this strange device be? When I touch it, it brings forth a sound (2112)
Here's some that come to mind.
Kate Bush - Morning Fog
Camel - Echoes
Flower Kings - Stardust We Are part 3 (once Hasse starts singing)
Steve Hackett - Everyday
Hatfield and the North - Son of There's No Place Like Homerton
Iona - Bird of Heaven
King Crimson - I Talk to the Wind
Magenta - Home (the track ending the CD, not the full CD although I love the CD as a whole)
Phideaux - Crumble (vocal version)
Renaissance - Things I Don't Understand
Saga - 10,000 Days (song)
VdGG - Man Erg
Yes - Turn of the Century
Zappa - Waka/Jawaka (song)
Keane - "Sea Fog"
"Life Is Like A Pencil: It gets shorter the longer you use it,
you can only erase so many mistakes, and ofter it's pointless"
Peter Gabriel's "Don't Give Up" is a bit of a tear-jerker, too.
Music isn't about chops, or even about talent - it's about sound and the way that sound communicates to people. Mike Keneally
Hey, the site ate my first post! Dunno why it never appeared. So forgive me if you see two posts by me...
Yes: The Revealing Science of God, The Ancient, The Nous Sommes Du Soleil part of Ritual, Perpetual Change, Awaken
Genesis: Watcher of the Skies, Firth of Fifth
Camel: The Snow Goose (whole thing...)
Caravan: Nine Feet Underground, The Dog, the Dog
Soft Machine: Hope for Happiness, Kings and Queens
Renaissance: Prologue, Carpet of the Sun, Northern Lights
Magma: KA
I have to admit that more songs/artists than not which have already been cited have moved me on a deep, personal level. That being said, I'll stick to songs (if not artists) not yet mentioned:
Transatlantic- We All Need Some Light
Nightwish- Swanheart
Porcupine Tree- Where We Would Be (although I could've just as easily picked many others)
Marillion- too many to mention
IQ- Guiding Light
Threshold- Mansion (acoustic bonus track on re-release of Extinct Instinct)
Theocracy- I Am
Genesis- Supper's Ready
Queensryche- Silent Lucidity
Shadow Gallery- Hope For Us?
It Bites- Playground
I could go on for pages, but I'll spare you.

'The smell of strange colours are heard everywhere'- Threshold
Maybe you were only joking, but I love Pnoom and I love that animation.
Renaissance- "Ocean Gypsy"
The last verse, especially, due in part to the sparse accompaniment.
Camel- "Ice"
It always was a favorite, but one night in particular it really hit me. After a long drive home in the middle of the night, I pulled into my driveway around 3am.
It was winter and there was a power outage after a heavy snow. "Ice" had just started playing when I shut off the engine. No streetlights; no houselights;
only silohuettes of trees and houses against the snow. I must have sat out there for an hour hitting the "repeat" button.
Clutching at straws by Marillion for sure.
Also, "after glow" by Genesis and "gates of delirium" by Yes(especially the "soon" section). I'm sure there's some Porcupine Tree and several other bands who would qualify for me.
As for Camel, I'd say "lady fantasy" and the snowgoose album and also Dust and Dreams. It's hard for me to just pick individual songs but I will say definitely "pilgrims" by VDGG.
I would also say some stuff by ELP, Eloy, Echolyn, TFK, SB, Banco(the entire di terra album for sure), Caravan and probably several others.

I couldn't find a decent youtube clip for Banco's "traccia 2" but here's another one that should be mentioned:
King Crimson's "Epitaph". That big mellotron build up in the middle always gets me!

^Oh yeah. One of my favorite mellotron moments(yes I know that's another thread). I also really like the song "lament" from Starless and Bible black. The lyrics in particular get me(especially the ones toward the end: "I like the way you look at me. Your laughing too down there inside. I took my chance and you took yours. You crewed my ship we missed the tide. I like the way the music goes There's a few good guys who can play it right I like the way it moves my toes say when you want to go and dance all night." There are other KC songs too such as "exiles" and "starless" and...(ok this list could go on and on).
- The 'Soon' sequence from Gates of Delirium by Yes
- Questions and the cover of Redemption Song by Manfred Mann's Earth Band
- Cheap Evening Return by Wigwam
- The Long and Winding Road (with strings) by The Beatles

National Health-Arriving Twice.Always liked the yearning feeling i get from this.
Gastr del Sol-Mouth Canyon. This just gives me a feeling of wide open spaces, real and emotional. When the steel guitar comes in early in this tune....pure joy.
Robert Wyatt-Strange Fruit-this cover of Strange Fruit just works ,for me.Wyatt's voice seems so well suited for the feel of the tune.He makes it his own.

Not joking.
Some of the suggestions in this thread amount to saying Scooby Doo is "great comedy" - but that's just me. For something to even begin to touch me, at least make it artistically convincing; "wannabes" are not. There are other more fitting suggestions here as well, of course.
"Improvisation is not an excuse for musical laziness" - Fred Frith
"[...] things that we never dreamed of doing in Crimson or in any band that I've been in," - Tony Levin speaking of SGM
A Love Supreme
That aches indeed... You can feel Hodgson's heart barely beating
Just as depressive Rock Bottom
Also .Lennon's Working Class Hero, though Marianna Faithful's version is even more poignant
======================
on a much more positive note:
Dawn on Circus' Movin' On >> definitely the most descriptive instrumental music around
And Traffic's Hidden Treasure (on the Low Spark album)
And yes, Popol Vuh's later 70's music is very emotive as well, in a very positive way

my music collection increased tenfolds when I switched from drug-addicts to complete nutcases.
Yes - big generator.
The artwork, lack of material, how great they used to be, the sound etc etc.
Brings me to tears everytime.
This one came to mind first for me. Especially the live version on "Marbles on the Road" - h just nails it and then gives this exhausted look right as the song finishes - which I think is probably the same look I have on my face.
Others for me:
Flying Colors - The Storm: This one was all about timing and what I was going through in my personal life when it came out. The chorus is something that I still repeat to myself as a reminder.
Yes - Awaken: Don't think an explanation is necessary here
And now one from left field...
Ice Age - The Lhasa Road (No Surrender): The first half of the Liberation album is great, in my opinion, but this song in particular always moved me. Wish these guys had stayed together.
Triumvirat-The Deadly Dream Of Freedom
Libra-Words and Music
Banco-Traccia 2
