The 15 Most Hated Bands of Last 30 Years

    According to Salon.com

    http://www.salon.com/2013/08/10/15_m...last_30_years/

For those who just want to see the list:

    Nickelback
    98 Degrees
    Smash Mouth
    Black Eyed Peas
    Insane Clown Posse
    Hootie & the Blowfish
    The Goo Goo Dolls
    John Mayer
    Dave Matthews Band
    Creed
    Train
    Phish
    Limp Bizkit
    Blink 182
    Lana Del Rey

I have heard of all these bands, but there are a few whose music I have not, to my knowledge, heard: 98 Degrees, Insane Clown Posse, Blink 182, Lana Del Rey.

I tend not to use the word "hate" loosely. For example, a band whose music is bland is not cause for hatred. Someone must like it, and if it doesn't drive me up the wall, I am merely indifferent.

Of those bands I have heard, the ones that irritate the hell out of me to the point I never want to hear them again are: Smash Mouth, Black Eyed Peas, and Limp Bizkit.

I don't dislike Phish at all.

Useless list. 30 years ago was mid 80s; nearly all those acts listed are from the mid-late 90s.

    Yeah, I like Phish too.

Limp Bizkit, Blink 182, Insane Clown Posse, Blackeyed Peas can stay on the list. I'm surprised the BY Peas are on there since they seemed to be so popular.

Hootie, Smash Mouth and some of the others I've only heard on the radio, I can tolerate. I thought Hootie had a different sound at least from the general stuff played on the radio.

I dunno. I was visiting my son at Grinnell College some years ago and BEP were playing. I thought their live show was very good, and then after, the band members all ended up at various campus parties that night. SO I cannot hate them.
I'm not lazy. I just work so fast I'm always done.

John Mayer and Lana Del Rey are bands? Is their favourite group Helen Reddy?

In the words of Frank himself, "No it was Twisted Sister".

I find it hard to believe that a list representing the most hated popular music of the last 30 years would be so tightly focused, temporally speaking. You'd think people like New Kids On The Block (and any number of other boy bands, though I guess their represented by 98 Degrees), MC Hammer, Foreigner, Vanilla Ice, and any number of glam metal bands (my picks would be Firehouse and Warrant) would be on such a list.

Or maybe the people that were polled are all in their 30's, and hence only remember the shit that was on the radio when they were teenagers. They're too young to be bugged by the likes of MC Hammer and Warrant, but too old to be bugged by anything that's been clogging the airwaves for the last 10 years.

I think as a whole, nobody really takes boy bands seriously enough to add them in here and i only think 98 degrees got in there is because nick lachey simply refuses to fade into obscurity.

    LOL! Some funny comments:
If the Black Eyed Peas, the creators of nonsensical hits like “Boom Boom Pow” and “My Humps,” qualify as music, then any kid with a Barbie Mix It Up DJ Turntable is Mozart. Who needs vocals when you’ve got auto-tune?

all the comments are good-cold and short....much like those little ice cream cones people eat so they can tell others they are on a diet (does not work when you eat the whole box in two day, btw...)

Pointless list, pointless thread, hating is pointless. And far from being hated a lot of those artists were/are very popular. At a guess I'd say this is a list of bands that some youngster, that has only been listening to music for about 10 years, doesn't like.

But starting a thread about how you hate jazz - that's not pointless.

I don't like country music, but I don't mean to denigrate those who do. And for the people who like country music, denigrate means 'put down.'- Bob Newhart

When I hear DMB, my two main thoughts are: 1- nice band, 2- annoying singer.

Difference being that my thread was from the perspective of my muscial likes & dislikes, no one elses. Whereas the article at the top of this thread is by a person STATING that a list of bands are the MOST HATED in the last 30 years i.e. claiming to speak for music listeners as a whole. I only ever speak for myself.

Jazz is one thing I reserve the word hate for
