    Order the Rush Albums

Hi, I'm new here. I haven't seen a thread with this topic yet. Just put the rush albums in order of preference. Or you can just do a top ten if you want.

    Moving Pictures
    Signals
    Grace Under Pressure
    Permanent Waves
    Clockwork Angels
    Snakes and Arrows
    Power Windows
    Roll The Bones
    Counterparts
    Vapor Trails
    Test For Echo
    Hemispheres
    A Farewell to Kings
    Hold Your Fire
    Presto
    2112
    Caress of Steel
    Fly By Night
    Rush

    Moving Pictures
    Farewell to Kings
    Hemispheres
    Permanent Waves
    2112

are all the Rush albums I need. Even Peart lost his mojo in the 80's as he stopped taking risks !

    Caress of Steel
    Rush
    Hemispheres

Not going to attempt to rank the post-HYF albums because I kind of stopped listening to Rush then. I've recently picked them up again (including Clockwork Angels, and its accompanying tour), but still don't feel like I can fairly rank them.

I disagree, really take a listen to the drumming on the albums from Signals through HYF. He even took lessons from Freddie Gruber and completely changed his style of playing; at least for a little while in the mid '90s!

I just ordered this box- Signals to HYF--HD music, with Signals in 5.1. $40! Not bad price. All I need now is the 2nd box (Farewell to Kings to Moving Pictures) and my Rush collection will pretty much be complete. No need for anything before or after.

Wow, this is very very difficult. I just saw Rush live last night and they kicked ass. It is also difficult for me to understand people giving up on the band before or after certain eras. I think they have on a bit of a roll lately with 2 very strong albums in “Snakes And Arrows” and “Clockwork Angels”. Anyway…….off the top of my head here is my list:

    1 2112 (still my fav)
    2 HEMISPHERES
    3 SIGNALS
    4 POWER WINDOWS
    5 COUNTERPARTS
    6 MOVING PICTURES
    7 PERMANENT WAVES
    8 CLOCKWORK ANGELS
    9 GRACE UNDER PRESSURE
    10 SNAKES AND ARROWS
    11 A FAIRWELL TO KINGS
    12 CARESS OF STEEL
    13 HOLD YOUR FIRE
    14 ROLL THE BONES
    15 FLY BY NIGHT
    16 VAPOR TRAILS
    17 PRESTO
    18 TEST FOR ECHO
    19 RUSH
    20 FEEDBACK

Not much of a Rush fan any more (used to be in high school, then I got bored of them).

    1. Hemispheres (by far their best)
    2. Farewell to Kings (title track is a wonderful song)
    3. Permanent Waves
    4. Fly by Night (In the End is a gorgeous piece)
    5. 2112
    6. Caress of Steel
    7. Moving Pictures

2112 and nothing past Moving Pictures.
What can this strange device be? When I touch it, it brings forth a sound (2112)

The first few people to reply gave "Grace Under Pressure" high ratings, anywhere from 1st to 4th, which surprised me. Always thought it was a good album but not great, with no monster stand-out tracks. Also glad to see "Test for Echo" not dead last on everyone's list, which is where it ends up when hardcore Rush fans vote on a Rush forum I'm on. Probably the only post-Hold Your Fire album I enjoyed until Clockwork Angels came along.

The first group, albums I like from beginning to end:

    Hemispheres
    Farewell to Kings
    Permanent Waves
    Moving Pictures
    Signals
    Power Windows
    Clockwork Angels

I like these but there are a few tracks I'm not crazy about:

    2112
    Test for Echo
    Grace Under Pressure
    Caress of Steel
    Hold Your Fire
    Fly By Night
    Vapor Trails
    Rush

I hate these, with only a few tracks being listenable:

    Presto
    Counterparts
    Roll the Bones
    Snakes & Arrows
You say Mega Ultra Deluxe Special Limited Edition Extended Autographed 5-LP, 3-CD, 4-DVD, 2-BlueRay, 4-Cassette, five 8-Track, MP4 Download plus Demos, Outtakes, Booklet, T-Shirt and Guitar Pick Gold-Leafed Box Set Version like it's a bad thing...

    My top 10:

    Power Windows
    Permanent Waves

    Signals
    Grace Under Pressure
    A Farewell To Kings
    Hold Your Fire
    Clockwork Angels

I don't need to order any Rush albums. I have them all. Please do not call again, I'm on the national No Call list. Good Day.
