Days Between Stations - In Extremis

I haven't seen much talk at PE about the new album from Days Between Stations - In Extremis , so I thought I would post about it and see what others think about it.

This is one great album, the band itself has two core members, Oscar Fuentes Bills & Sepand Samzadeh , among those joining these two for In Extremis are Rick Wakeman , the late Peter Banks (who this album is dedicated to), Tony Levin & Billy Sherwood.

I really never heard of this band before this cd came out, I read a very positive review about it at DPRP so I decided to get it and am not disappointed in the least, this one has moved way high on my best cds of 2013 , so far. Just a tremendous effort. I also hear that they have another cd that came out in 2007 that is self titled and all instrumental (In Extremis has vocals) , I will be getting that one also.

2013 is already shaping up to be another great year in prog music, so many good albums so far and many more to come I'm sure, and I fully expect In Extremis to make a lot of best of 2013 lists at years end, as I said I know already that it will be on mine.

Great CD, i like the mix of old symphonic sound of the 70's and the new techno and heavy drums of today. Many floydian atmosphere, some piano and synths parts are awesome. All this with a little touch of exotic sound. A perfect cd!

Not near as much interest as I thought there would be for In Extremis, obviously most around here have not heard it,it is a new release , maybe that's why , it is just a great album.

One track, "Eggshell Man", is on the cover CD of the latest Prog magazine. I was... not particularly moved either way by it.

Thank you very much for the kind words...
Yes the buzz for us is expected to be a slow ramp, as we don't have much marketing muscle. It's a grass roots campaign. The major magazines and sites will be posting reviews and interviews soon enough!

Henry, I agree with you.... I added some Tabasco sauce on the CD itself to spice things up, but for some reason the CD didn't play!

I love this album and this band, flat out.

I've now heard the first third of the album -- oh, how life gets in the way of listening to music -- and am much enjoying it. "No Cause for Alarm (Overture)"/"In Utero" is a strong beginning.

“visionary” is on morow.com’s current playlist. such an excellent, moody track... and, of now, my favourite billy sherwood moment ever.

Yeah really good. More people should know about this. Ordered.

Interesting that Sherwood and Tony Levin are the rhythm section on this project.

    Bump.

Guys, this would be great even without the high-profile names involved. Good work!

This is indeed a great album, that should be discussed more often than the latest Yes. In fact, if every album mentioned on PE should receive 1% of the responses H&E receives, I'm a happy man. I do my best to bump every other thread not about Yes (who's with me?)

I've practically played the grooves off this cd. Fantastic!

I'm with you, and I listened to the latest Days Between Stations CD much more than ANY Yes CD over the past year.

Great album and great band. There's a vinyl edition of "In Extremis" available from their website.

And I've heard a rumor of not only a possible video of "Eggshell Man" but also that new music is in the works...

Just found this for 50 cents. Saw the players on it, grabbed it and ran!

Can't wait to hear it after reading these posts. Has it fallen out of favor, or are you guys still enjoying it?
