Revisiting....Manilla Road....To Kill A King. A medieval, metal masterpiece. It's my favorite Manilla Road album. Rock In Peace Shark.
That Volur is definitely kool! Violin is a nice texture and I really dig their use of dynamics, which is missing in some metal. Thx for the heads-up Dunc and Bradbone.
I'm not a fan of Heart but Ann Wilson released a new single titled....The Hammer. Pretty heavy in a Sabbathy, Soundgardany way, with some big riffs.
She's the best female voice in hard rock. I'm not a fan of female singers in general but with some exceptions.
I don't like country music, but I don't mean to denigrate those who do. And for the people who like country music, denigrate means 'put down.'- Bob Newhart
I found out Oz Fox had surgery to remove a brain tumor the other day. Anyone know how he's doing??
Listening to Smith/Kotzen. Oof. It's not metal but it's heavy, guitar rock. Melodic, bluesy, heavy. Kotzen is a monster. What a voice, what a guitar player.
The latest Hallas is a pleasant mixture of proto-metal, early Genesis, Wishbone Ash and 80s Yes.
According to this article, Jon Shaffer, a guitarist for Iced Earth was a participant in the January 6 Insurrection, and may be rolling over.

Fair ways in before the mention.
I saw that! ^^^ I've enjoyed Iced Earth a bit in past years, and saw them live once.
The best thing about them is the interesting story about a singer in an Iced Earth tribute band, who impressed the band so much that he eventually became the lead singer. Very similar to the Walberg / Anniston movie "Rock Star", about a similar incident with Judas Priest.

Duncan
I used to have a few Iced Earth albums but gave up on them as Iron Maiden wannabes. There were no tunes in their catalog that had the impact of the Irons.

I am not super familiar with Iced Earth, but the Rock Star movie was loosely based on Tim Ripper Owens who replaced Rob Halford in Judas Priest based on a YouTube video. If I remember correctly, after Halford came back to Priest, Owens became the lead singer for Iced Earth for a few years.
Just the other day I saw some guy wearing an Iced Earth t shirt while out shopping. Someone taped me one of their albums a long time ago. They sounded very similar to Iron Maiden. Not bad but I would rather just stick with Maiden.

Man, that Rock Star movie was just such shit. Wahlberg was about as convincing as metal singer as he would have been portraying an astrophysicist.

Rock Star was ok, but I agree that Marky Mark was a bad choice as the lead guy.
