Hadn't known until now about Start Making Sense, a Talking Heads tribute band.

"Start Making Sense. Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. If David Byrne is one of the geniuses of modern times, then Start Making Sense is a tribute to genius. The musicians in this 7-10 piece Talking Heads Tribute take pride in faithfully recreating the music of Talking Heads entire career."

    A couple of performances here:

Hayward's current (for many years now) touring mode has him only playing acoustic, backed by a female vocalist/keyboard player and a guy who plays "lead" acoustic guitar who's also the opening act, and whose style reminded me of the late Michael Hedges. Apparently he's added a flute player recently as well. We saw him 8 years ago and it was pretty enjoyable despite the fact that he's dropped doing any lead guitar work from his show anymore.

I saw him on CTTE 2022 with this lineup (including flute) and it was really enjoyable. Much more so than I expected when I realized what the band was going to be. I'd absolutely see him again.

This is terrible advertising to be sure. The Band Geeks are stellar and deserve a line! Also, Yes should not be listed like it's the band itself.

I would love for Hayward and Lodge to play together. I've always enjoyed the Blue Jays album. I wonder if there is any bad blood between them. I hope not. Maybe they just like doing their own thing at this stage.

Lodge is currently recovering from a "serious medical issue" and won't be on the road for a few more months.

Interestingly, one of the musicians with him is Jon Davison.

The news of this festival is spreading on social media, and I have seen quite a few people tag their friends and type something like "Hey, Yes is going to be there!." I assume this is why Jon insists on doing it this way. There are plenty of fans of the band that do not keep track of the day-to-day details like maybe some of us, so they are just excited that the ad says "Yes" is playing.

Even though The Great South Bay Festival is 10 minutes from home I have never attended. Anyone know if this a multiple stage affair or will I be able to see all 4 bands?

I believe Jon Davison is John Lodge's son-in-law.

GREAT album. Some of Hayward's tastiest playing.

As far as I know, Lodge and Hayward are on good terms.

He is absolutely and definitely John Lodge's son-in-law. He married Emily Lodge in December 2022. "Future Memories" on The Quest and "Circles of Time" on Mirror to the Sky are about Emily. It was Emily's remark that the sea looked like a "mirror to the sky" that, indeed, led to the song and Yes album taking that title. Emily, meanwhile, is not only John's daughter, she's also his manager.

John Lodge has been working on a new studio album, and both Davison and Geoff Downes appear to be involved.

I'm really looking forward to the new album 'Big Yellow Ball in the Sky'.

One song I would likely pay for him not to perform.

I just read an interview in Mojo with Jon Anderson: https://www.mojo4music.com/articles/...m-part-of-yes/

One note of interest that caught my attention is the fact that a Jon and Band Geeks album is currently being mixed from the sound of it. No specifics, but I wonder if it might be an album of new material or a release from last year's amazing tour? Probably live material but I'd love an album of originals.
Not sure if the full interview can be accessed or not without a sub. I read it through my apple news plus sub.

He's talking about an album of original material (although there were also some hints of a live release). The first song recorded is called "Counties and Countries" and was played at shows after the performance; this was a song Anderson wrote for Yes about 20 years ago. Others songs include "Truth is You" and "Still a Friend of Mine". Other songs possibly also come from Anderson's backlog of ideas. It appears the album is pretty much done, with a release expected in the middle of this year.

Anyone else notice the use of album artwork (that Jon had nothing to do with) in this promotional video?

Absolutely....I chuckled when the artwork for the Heaven and Earth album was used.

Lawyers, etc: "OMG Jon Anderson is referencing a Yes album he had nothing to do with, fans could get confused and believe that Jon was behind Heaven and Earth!!!"

I grabbed a ticket for the New Brunswick, NJ show today. $79 for Row 12 - not bad, all things considering.
