I believe the two bonus tracks are that. The rest - as far as I understand - are newly recorded with Sherwood.

I'm in. Some interesting-looking things on there.

Wow! Moraz playing on Silent Wings, Kaye playing on Parallels...

No, his is being billed as a Yes tribute. This is Billy Sherwood's baby.

Cool about Annie Haslam doing Onward and Candice Night on Whale. Wish they would have asked Mike Keneally to contribute.

    Notable absentees: Anderson/Howe/Wakeman/Rabin

Some odd song and guest choices here, this doesn't feel right to me but I'm sure some it will be good. However, I imagine it will be a 'play once and never play again' type of thing.

Must buy; however, I feel that more tracks from Fish Out of Water should have been included, not to mention Run Like a Fox and Aliens.

Of the Yes material, AYAI or Heart of the Sunrise are far more a Squire inspiration than was Owner of a lonely heart - that is a Trevor Rabin composition. And more from Conspiracy would have been nice, but it's still my first item on this year's Christmas list.

^^^ I agree about FOOW. Billy should consider doing a tribute to that one in its entirety. With the right guests it could be a worthy alternative to the original.

There are more details at http://www.bondegezou.co.uk/wnyesm.htm#cstrib , including comments by Sherwood as to why ARW aren't involved.

I would guess that the label wanted "Owner" and "Roundabout" in order to be able to sell this.

As above, this is different to the Kerzner project, although both projects feature Kaye, Sherwood and Davison and they have at least "The Fish" in common (with Sherwood playing bass on both album's versions).

You can pretty much listen to the whole thing on Bandcamp. The vocals must have all been “one take and done” or something, because they are processed to the point of sounding completely unnatural. I expect that vocal sound from Sherwood on his own singing, but did anyone ever think they would hear Annie Haslam sounding like a robot to the extent that she does on “Onward”? Annie. Haslam. And Steve Hogarth is one of my favorite singers of all time, but his performance seems stripped of any warmth and personality he might have brought to the table.

Don't care what you say, Annie on Onward is sublime. Just beautiful. Let's remember that she's 71 now and doesn't have the same strength behind her vocals.

A little odd that there's only one bassist on a Chris Squire tribute album, but I suppose Sherwood knows more about Squire's bass style than anyone else.

I wish the "small hall" reverb hadn't been applied across the board, it sounds like... (I've only listened to two tracks so far, perhaps the others aren't so affected)

i gave this a listen on Bandcamp. The vocals are indeed totally overprocessed but it doesn't take away the enjoyment for me, personally. That being said, there's little point in buying this. I'll listen twice and it'll sit on the shelf, just like every other "tribute" album I've ever bought.

This ^^^. I know some people enjoy them, but I've never been a fan of these tribute albums. I jumped right to Parallels, and it's pretty much what I expected. A nice cover, but doesn't hold a candle to the original.

I'm sure they all had a blast making it, for sure. Are any of these better than a version with Squire? No. But fun hearing their interpretations. A little too on the wet/saucy side with effects. But Jon Davison does sound pretty good on OTSWOF.
