    Zwoyld: Quirky French Avant Prog

Zgond is the second release from France's Zwoyld and I believe there is an audience for this band on the board. They're an almost exclusively instrumental band that blend elements of avant garde, symph prog, and jazz rock; in a fun , very French way. Below is their Bandcamp link. Both albums are available as "name your price" downloads, or you can follow a link to a 2-disc CD anthology

I somehow was expecting endless posts of yugoslawian bands on bandcamp to follow...
(they where a fav band of a former member)

Zwoyld are a really good band, I like the Zeuhl touches in their stuff..

Very tasty! Thank you Yves. At moments it has a similar feel to Yolk's rather excellent album Solar from last year, but they have their own thing going on.

I have regrettably been forced to buy the double CD. Hate it when that happens.

It's good, but I really wish they were less avant and more sympho-lympho, 'cause that's what I vant. There's a most distinct line between avant and sympho. It comes with a strange and alien sound which somehow can't be assessed back to some given symphos of the 70s. "Could THIS sound have been made by the classic sympho?", one asks - and then on to evaluation. It's highly important to come out on the correct side of things.

It's pronounced "Ah-vant." And my advice is forget the sympho-lympho and find you a nympho. (Yes, I know you're getting older...Buck up, chappie.)

I like this a lot. The guitars in particular. I didn't catch its avantness. Maybe I have become so avant lately that, unless it's music that makes me feel like a complete imbecile, I dare not call it avant.

Nothing life-changing here, but a good, fun record. I am not sure we can ask for more nowadays.

Glad to see this thread got a bit of traction.. I think I prefer this second release to their debut, which sounds technically more complex, but a more difficult listen, imo...

At first I thought I preferred this new release, but that debut is pretty solid!

Yeah, I listened to 200 000 on the train this morning and it's a grower. I was especially digging the Zeuhlisms and Blasquiz-worship on Chaa and the thumb-piano intro to Melku.
