    Book: Old Records Never Die

I just ran across a book in The University Bookstore’s cutout bin called “Old Records Never Die” (2016). The author, Eric Spitznagel, reaches middle age and decides to revisit his youth by trying to reassemble his vinyl collection.

Should be interesting to quite a few of us here. Can’t recall seeing it mentioned before.

The author makes a good observation in the preface. Records often had a distinct smell. This one was moldy, that one smelled of marijuana, this one like dust and decay.

I do miss that with CDs.

Never heard of it but it looks potentially interesting, and the library in my town has it. Foreword by Jeff Tweedy.

I liked the review on Amazon. I might have to get this.

I don't like country music, but I don't mean to denigrate those who do. And for the people who like country music, denigrate means 'put down.'- Bob Newhart

When you said that it was in the cut-out bin, I thought the name would be Old Loves Die Hard.

You don't sort weed on your mini-LP CDs?

LOL, just kidding, that'd be funny.

Prog artist Mark Wilkinson has mentioned in interviews and such how he regrets having sold off a lot of his LP collection, and is now rebuying stuff. I guess he had a lot of original Floyd and stuff like that.

Only on Soft Machine Six. It's got that sort weed factor.
