    Marcus King Band?

Curious if anyone else here is into (or even heard of) these guys? I saw them open from Umphrey's Mcgee about a month ago and really enjoyed them. I recently picked up their album and am really digging it too. A lot of their stuff has an Allman Brothers / Gov't Mule vibe to it. King is really young too, I think he is either 20 or 21. They are coming back to town playing a headline show at a much smaller venue in May. Here is a video clip.

When we saw him live his singing style kind of reminded me of a Male Janis Joplin. Great guitar player and his band was all top notch too.

He's playing in Jacksonville in June, too bad, I'll be back up north by then.

I believe he is from South Carolina. I had never heard of him before the UM show.

I've got some friends that know him and play with his band on the same bill from time to time.

That roosty; blues inspired music will always have an appeal down this way.

    And elsewhere....

He got a great reaction from the Umphrey's crowd. A lot of people showed up early to see him.
