Lightning Bolt certainly looks an outlier on this line up, plenty of experimental stuff, bit too much free jazz for me.

If my legs are still holding up and the mood strikes, I'm certainly game for something new by Sunday
If you're actually reading this then chances are you already have my last album but if NOT and you're curious:

I suppose that should wear off what's left of an otherwise pedstrian weekend!

Great programme overall; particularly heartening to see so many names from the ol' country.
They haven't announced the running order yet, those are just in the order I wrote them down while checking samples.

Last year was an epic lineup but...honestly, just about anything they pick this year will probably go over better than the "Sinking of the Titanic" finale did

I wish I could see Marc Ribot's Ceramic Dog, I have no idea how they are live but it is one of my favourite projects involving Ribot.
Judging by the energies in the studio, I bet they will kill.

All righty! Detailed schedule released. Got a few damned conflicts to iron out (right off: Susanna vs. Jenny Hval?!? NO FAIR). But, overall days are looking fairly smooth.

No conflicts out of the gates, but alternating distant venues in a couple of instances.
I left myself some choices accidentally on purpose.

Got the plane tickets. There are a couple of different eating places that might be worth a look.
There is a newish cluster closer to the Mill&Mine, but farther from the other venues. On Central Ave.

We had one day with 16 miles, it was bonkers, every next venue was at the other end of town. Not doing that this year.

That fiddler convention thing has sprouted anew. Just for you John.
THURSDAY: Join us for a square dance on Market Square (or as it is lovingly called in Knoxville, the “Square on the Square”) with Knoxville caller Stan Sharp alongside Anna Roberts-Gevalt and percussive dancer Becky Hill. Be on the look-out for Big Ears artist pickers making a surprise appearance to join in with Knoxville’s all-star string band, The A Four Forties. After the Square on the Square, head to the Jig & Reel for a late night old time jam hosted by Anna & Elizabeth, which will continue till the early hours of the morning…

New Ribot Ceramic Dog release was disappointing to me; I hope the shows are better.

Get an advance copy Steve? Disappointing to hear. I liked their debut much better then the second.

Square dance? Fiddle bonanza? That's the most Knoxville thing Big Ears has done yet!

Anybody going to check out the 12 hour drone? We'll probably head over after Four Tet or Rova.

Last year we avoided some of the longer walks by taking an Uber. Ended up being around $5 usually each trip and very quick and easy. Otherwise the walk from Church Street Methodist Church to the Mill & Mine would've been much too long.

I am thinking the ROVA Channeling Coltrane: Electric Ascension might bump 4 Tet Saturday night. Closer to my hotel at that hour.
