Roger Waters new album - "Is This The Life We Really Want?"

    Coming soon...

Hoping it's out by showtime; late May for some, September for me.

I'm in regardless. Too big a PF fan to pass on anything new from any of these gents.
If you're actually reading this then chances are you already have my last album but if NOT and you're curious:

I'd buy a Water's album over a Gilmour album any day of the week so AUTO-BUY

Hope he's employed Dave Kilminster [his touring guitarist] for this and it'll be interesting to see who else he's got on board.

Not to rehash what has been mentioned elsewhere...but apparently RW worked closely with Nigel Godrich on this one. He's pretty much the main man/producer for Radiohead, so...make of that what you will. For me, it sounds like an interesting pairing that could bring out RW's strengths.

Did he announce tour dates? Probably impossible to get tix anyway.

Oh, now I remember - he's skipping Manhattan.

Could this be one of the longest gaps between albums ever?
Just kidding but seriously, he hasn't released a proper studio album since 1992's Amused To Death which I happened to revisit for the first time in ages last week, prompted by the PE thread on Waters solo albums.
    Not just a Genesis fanboy.

Well... it is "only" 12 years from Ça Ira. A massive project. Some would say that it is a "proper" album. Some would not and I understand both parties.

I was going to say Floyd, but Division Bell was 1994.

He's doing the Barclay Center and Nassau Collisium.

The cample sounds like latter day Waters depressing dirge drek.

Sounds like something from "Endless River".

In most instances you're making a distinction without much of a difference. The US is a democratic republic. When people emphasize democracy, they emphasize that the power ultimately resides with the people, rather than a particular political elite class. When people emphasize republic, they emphasize that the state is made up of laws (such as the U.S. Constitution), rather than the will of a ruler or small group of rulers, or that the government is supposed to function for the good of all, rather than the for the benefit of a few. All three of these things are true. The US is a republic, and it is a democracy.

While granting that with RW it's somewhat hard to dodge politics completely...maybe at least try to keep it to a minimum?

I'm looking forward to the new album, as long as it's not another opera.

Coincidentally, I just forced my daughter to listen to "Amused to Death" during a long car ride. It was sort of revenge for a habit she's gotten into lately where whenever anyone mentions Pink Floyd, she says "Hey, did you hear that Roger Waters' dad died in the war?"

Anyway, "Amused" is one of my favorite Floyd-related albums. Hopefully the new album is in a similar vein.

Oh, and my daughter didn't care for it much. She's more of a Dark Side/Gilmour Floyd fan.

I now have so much respect for your daughter.

Amused to Death is about the only studio album of his I'll play these days. But I'll give this a shot. I can take dark and despairing lyrics. It's the lack of any discernible melody that grates me the most with his post-Wall efforts.
I don't like country music, but I don't mean to denigrate those who do. And for the people who like country music, denigrate means 'put down.'- Bob Newhart

That IS sometimes a problem, though not I'd say on The Final Cut and Radio KAOS (and some of Pros and Cons).

Which is kind of "funny" because there is almost nothing about Roger Waters' father on his solo albums...

Edit. In fact there is zero direct allusion to his dad on those solo albums. Or am I wrong?

Can't be the snoozefest of OIA, and it's likely to be out for blood in terms of texts...

Yup, I've been expecting this one for over a year.

Three years, I heard. he announced it halfway done some 15 months ago (around the date of release of Gilmour's mast solo album) and to be expected in halfway through 17, and it looks like it's right on tracks

TBH, just having Rog's name in a thread, it's already on the verge of the ravine.
