They still seem pretty cool to me.
Also, in the midst of their L.A. Forum run in 2015 they found the time to play at The Roxy; a set of mainly songs from their first album, "Boy". (My favorite of theirs.)

I spent part of the morning spinning disc two of the deluxe edition of October - there's some sizzling live stuff from the days when they were young and hungry.

This tour, like every other major tour, is not even going to come close to me and even then I doubt if I could afford it. I'll wait for the DVD or live album.

It's funny that U2 doesn't get much love on PE. I know some members are still butthurt about something Bono said thirty-five years ago about prog. But the Edge's sound experiments alone are worthy of discussion.

I loved them in the '80s but eventually Bono's arrogance and self importance got way too over the top for me by the decade's end. The Unforgettable Fire and Joshua Tree still get spun at least once a year as well as Under a Blood Red Sky. The two live tracks from Wide Awake in America are among my all-time favorite live tracks ever.

Yeah, the Cleveland show will be the first time they've played here in something like 20 years. I recall the one really huge tour they did (the one with the McDonald's arch towering over the stage and everything) in the late 90's didn't come to Cleveland, because at the time we didn't have a stadium (this was during the gap between the demolition of Municipal Stadium and the completion of Browns Stadium, now known as FirstEnergy Stadium, which for some strange reason only very rarely every hosts concerts).

If tickets aren't too expensive I might go. Would be cool to hear htem play Joshua Tree.

I always thought Centerfold was a pretty good song. A lot of people dis the Freeze Frame album, but I thought it was pretty good for what it was. I thought Freeze Frame, Centerfold, Flamethrower, Piss On The Wall, and Angel In Blue were all good songs. Sure it's a bit "slick" and "middle of the road" compared to their Atlantic era records, but as such things go, I think it's still a lot better than what some people who'd been around for a decade or more were doing in the 80's.

And then there's the chance that Bono will start pontificating and I'm sick of political opinions. I wonder how much the tickets are?

1987 was a really good year for music... for me.
although i always hated and still hate With Or Without You... this is a great album!
i have the delux edition with bonus disc... many of the b-sides and unused songs were also good
should have been a double album!

Glad to see I'm not the only one. I was in college when Joshua Tree came out, and there was a guy on my dorm floor who I swear wore his t-shirt from that tour at least five days a week all year long. Everyone loved that album, and I just didn't get it.

To me their songs don't just all sound the same, they all sound like they're ripping off "Run Like Hell".

They'd be high on my list of most overrated bands ever.

I certainly can't argue with that - I've only heard the stuff that gets overplayed on the radio, in sports stadiums, in commercials, etc. None of it ever made me want to dig further into their catalog.

Odd coincidence - about an hour after posting on this thread I turned on the TV and it was on Comedy Central which was mid-way through showing an episode of South Park that makes fun of Bono.
