Had it for a couple of weeks now........handsome chap is our Sean !!!!
Damn. From your subject line, I thought Sean had some sort of beef with Prog!!
Our FYE informed me that "we stopped carrying it. You were the only one who bought it"
Hopefully Barnes & Noble will have it, though it's in a traffic nightmare part of town and I usually end up going home empty-handed since B & N is very sporadic. One month they carry PROG, the next they don't. And I swear they only leave it on the shelf for a few days each month since they NEVER seem to have it when I'm there.
PROG needs better Stateside distribution! But I gotta get this one.

I've been buying mine at B&N for about 8 months. $15.99 for each issue. And you're always at least one issue behind. Subscribing is about the same price. I have an ipad and downloaded an issue there just yesterday. No free CD, but they are only $3.99 each there. And you're always getting the most recent issue. This makes more sense to me. Most of the CD's have too much Prog Metal for me liking anyways. I suggest going that route.
Also, B&N are closing only a few stores a year for the next 10 years. I think that's pretty smart on their part. Keeps them in business for a lot longer time. I read they will be going to a smaller footprint with new stores as well.....but they are NOT going out of business anytime soon.
Just an FYI....
wow, that is funny...and sucks at the same time!! I'm in PA and got it today for $10.80 because there is a 20% fye coupon that stacks on top of the 10% backstage pass discount.
I've seen PROG at all the FYE's in Eastern Pa and NJ. I guess there are enough prog fans who buy it there to have them continue to stock it.
Yep...going from memory here. Must have been a dollar off....
Our B&N just racked the KC issue, marked Feb. I thought we had missed ours, but it seems that's the next one.
I thought my local magazine shop stopped carrying it a few months ago, as I hadn't seen it for awhile. I stopped in on Friday and they had this issue. It was a nice surprise to see the Sean article.

Always being a month behind has never been an issue for me. It's not like I look to it for "fast breaking news". But I love the amount of information that these British mags have. They are just chock full of information that, yes, you can probably find on the internet, would take me a month to track it all down. This also goes for "Classic Rock" mag. The recent issue available in the US was like 160 pages and just page after page of information. Even the ads are informative.
Read it a few weeks ago as a free trial on my Nook. Pretty cool edition with lots of KC and Sid Smith goodness.

I blame Wynton, what was the question?

Yeesh, 15-16 dollars for a f***ing magazine? I must be living under a rock, or maybe it's been so long since I've bought a mag that I had no idea how expensive they've gotten. I think I saw an issue of Prog at B&N once. It was the lone copy, and it looked like it had taken some abuse. The thought of purchasing it never entered my mind. I'll never understand why anyone would need a hard copy magazine about "prog" (for 15, f***ing dollars to boot) when you can find all your prog news for free on the internet.
I stopped buying it. There's only so much I can read about Saint Steven, his pals Mike and Bobby and a small assortment of female singers.

As long as the ads were microbrews, absinthe, and scotch, I don't think the readers would mind.
But what I'd REALLY like to know is if Sean borrowed any albums, or faced particular albums in the front to give his collection more credibility.

Borrowed, no, those are all mine. When it came time to put the albums up it was such a hurry no thought was given to the order. I picked them more based on looks.
Ha. I would have probably given certain rare albums and/or personal faves the face time. Interesting to hear that you were doing it in a hurry.

ThHe magazine is a British import. It also comes with a full-length sampler CD. At FYE, you can get it for as little as $10, if you have a backstage pass and if they got a concurrent coupon going on too. The internet argument is pointless - where will you find all the reviews and interviews they have? I mean if you have the digital version of the actual magazine, that is different.
