Congrats, I think you'll love the textures and sounds you'll come up with. I think that era of Yamaha synths, a lot of the sounds are like how the Korg Triton/Trinity sound today. Not the way they sound in particular, but they don't sound outdated to me. Play a D50 and you immediately think 80's. lol
I believe this also has the AN expansion installed(I think it came from factory with it, but might be an expansion option).
The guy I sold my Emulator II+HD completely upgraded it with the CF stuff. You almost have to, even though it had a harddrive, those 5 1/2" floppy drives are like finding hens teeth. lol
Thanks for keeping us updated on your purchase.

I would have liked to upgrade to Synth Stack 4, but alas that can only be done in the Cherry Audio store and for that one needs a creditcard (which I don't have), or Paypal, for which one needs a cellphone, or a smartphone, which I don't have and don't care for.

This may not be as easy to do overseas but at least here in the US, one option would be to go purchase a prepaid Visa card (which I think can or even must be purchased with cash) and use that.

I think I need to add a boring purchase to my Black Friday madness...need to upgrade the internal M2 drive for my DAW laptop to get a little extra wiggle room for things. Difficulty: my C:\ drive, which is rarely simple, given that the darn crazy operating system lives there too. Should be a nice exercise in watching my hairline recede in real time

I bought Synth Stack 3 from a Dutch store, actually the Dutch site of a German store. And that I could pay by transfering money from my bank-account. It's how I do all online shopping. Updating Cubase will work the same way, because Steinberg is in Germany, so transfering money from my bank-account is easy.

It's a matter of what I can use and what to spend my money on. I love my computer and also have two old laptops. One is very small (netbook it's named) and the other one I use for my sampler. I once bought a cheap tablet, for some apps, but I prefer my desktop computer for internet. I'm not adverse of technology, I used to have a Psion PDA https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Psion_(company), which I loved and still miss. It was very handy to write my diary on during vacations, which I could transfer to my computer when I arrived hom.
A slight necro reply.... after using Pro Tools for two decades, I switched to Reaper a few years ago and still love it. PT became bloated, requiring too much RAM as a result. Their (since discontinued) subscription licensing model was the final straw.

I don't see much reason to switch from Cubase to another program. With Cubase I can work like with sheet-music and that is my prefered way to work. Besides it offers a lot of options to play my music the way I want it. Next week the second trial period (I got a second trial code, because the Steinberg store went down) will end and then I will have to update to Cubase 13 Pro. In a way I look forward to it, because it incoporates Ionica Sketch, which sounds rather interesting.
I don't remember the details, but somewhere on YouTube in the last couple of days I saw mention of an extension (or whatever it's called) that would make Reaper function very much like Pro Tools. Just thought it might be of interest.
Edit: this is what I was thinking of.

Reaper's been terrific for me. I love how configurable it is overall. Even found a cool extension that lets me directly import my old Sonar files with reasonable enough accuracy (certainly easier than trying to copy/paste MIDI clips, at least!).

Yeah...not going to swear that it's all amazing, but it's darn fine for me.

And a free Oberheim monophonic module from Cherry Audio.

And finally.....the UB-Xa
16v, PolyAT keyboard
I'll be interested to see it stacked up against other synths, especially the OB-6.
I might be interested in a desktop. Depending. Sounds like the firmware is still in evolving.

"MARKLAR!"
Never Behringer, the Tachika of gear. (But y'all do you).
Finally bought and downloaded the update to Cubase 13 Pro. I suppose I will look into it tomorrow.
Good move. Lot of workflow updates.

I had a trial version of Cubase 12 Pro, which I liked. The opinions on the update to 13 Pro seem to be a bit mixed, judging from some YouTube videos, But it has Ionica Sketch added and that looks really interesting. Besides it was probably time for an update from Cubase 8 Pro.
The piece I'm currently working on, was started with Cubase 8, then more or less completed with Cubase 12 and now I will be finishing it with Cubase 13.
Just experimented a little bit with Ionica Sketch. Really an interesting addition. Alas no solo strings, but at this moment that's the only thing. You can switch between different playing styles by pressing an unused key on your keyboard. Mostly it is under the range of the instrument and in some cases, like with the contra bassoon it is above it's range. You get a full set of orchestral instruments including tuned percussion. I'm so going to enjoy it.
