    Any Altcoin Miners Here?

Been doing this for the last week and it's a lot of fun. Anyone else do this? It takes a bit of a learning curve but it seems prog fans would do good.

I hear they are worth a little more than 'exposure' to musicians

    Is this like Bitcoin?

IMHO Fully digital currency "may" ultimately be the money of the future but the gvmt will find a way to own/regulate it.

Altcoin is an alternative cryptocurrency to "Bitcoin" . . .

I've been mining Bitcoins for a while now - and actually purchased three, stand-alone ASIC machines (last year), hard wired to the internet. The machines paid for themselves within several months.

Since then, and on average - they mine enough to completely pay for our electricity, gas, water and cable bill every month . . . a single Bitcoin is a little over $600 USD at this time. I use it primarily to pay household bills . . .

I will probably pick up additional ASIC miners next year - - -

There are lots of physical mining hardware out there for sale - - - for the hobbyist all the way up to pro miners.

You have to be careful about ROI, power supplies, your own electricity costs (kW) - several factors can determine your profitability when mining . . .

Some of the bigger miners can easily cost $10 per day in electricity . . . and you need a pretty fast internet/network connection on top of that.

The fans are for both the power supply and CPU cooling - - - these are basically computers that use GPU's (graphical processing units) instead of regular computer CPU's - - - the GPU's accomplish the block chain calculations much quicker than regular computers.
