I thought it was laughably awful.

I admittedly don't watch this show very closely, but since my wife's a huge fan I end up seeing it anyway even if I don't pay too close attention. How did Scully end up not believing in this UFO stuff again last night when I recall that she was abducted by aliens in one of the theatrical movies?

Consider me among the underwhelmed. The writing seemed a bit muddled and rushed, the Duchovny and especially Anderson seemed to be disinterested; kind of slept walk through the episode. However, I will stick with it a bit.

It was...OK. But according to critics that have seen the first three episodes this was the weakest of the three.

That final episode should lay to rest the notion that Chris Carter can write a decent, coherent script. I fear that the network and Carter are planning to relaunch the series with mini-Mulder and Scully jr. Dear god no.

I hope CC has a long enough memory to recall how ratings tanked during the Doggett/Reyes years, and sticks to producing small-batch series with Anderson and Duchovny as their availability permits.

BTW, I thought the final episode was pretty good, and was happy they didn't try to tie things up in a nice little bow.

I saw the first episode of the new X Files about 2 weeks ago, and I thought they'd turned it into a comedy, and the cinematography style looked like it was lifted straight from Land of the Giants. I thought it was bloody awful!

Fwiw, the FOX website http://www.fox.com/full-episodes/ lists this past week's episode as "Season Finale", as opposed to "Series Finale".
I thought the second and fourth episodes in this run were very good. The first was meh, the 3rd ok, fifth was slow and the "Finale", should've been the second half of a 2 hour episode with the 5th and that it was good. Definitely left me wanting more.

I enjoyed the last episode. I read Carter got positives from the studio wanting more episodes. I'm not feeling the Miller/Einstein thang.

^^^^ yeah. i hope that they don't inherit the show if Mulder & Scully exit. the last season proved that Duchovnyy IS the X-files.
