Thinking Plague + Hamster Theater + Glass

I just heard about a great upcoming concert. Three of the four best progressive rock bands in America -- Thinking Plague, Hamster Theater and Glass -- will be playing together (and separately) at The Dairy Center for the Arts in Boulder CO on Valentines Day, February 14, 2016.

The concert will be filmed by Adele Schmidt and José Zegarra Holder of Zeitgeist Media, with the intent of including some footage in the upcoming "Romantic Warriors III: Special Features" DVD. Also on the DVD will be all the interviews that didn't fit on the main DVD, and hopefully other leftover archival performance footage.

This could be a concert event of which legends are made.

    Got Milk?

Seriously though, are any of those bands considered Canterbury styled? Never heard Hamster Theater, but have the others. Didn't think so.

Probably not, although Glass put on the Progman Cometh festivals in 2002 & 2003 that featured the cream of Canterbury. All three bands are huge fans of Canterbury, but have gone off in their own unique directions.

I wouldn't be surprised though, given the reason for the concert, if some nods toward Canterbury were snuck in

Tickets for this show? $10 for a reserved seat. I almost fell out of my chair when I saw that price.

Oh...and the service fee? $1. I DID fall out of my chair when I saw that.

Three great bands for a stunningly reasonable price. If only the world still worked this way...

Still a lot of seats open. I'm really surprised this event hasn't sold out.

    Why?

    1. Two of the three bands are local

    2. How many Glass fans do you think there are in Denver/Boulder ?

    3. People don't think showing up at a show is necessary, once you've done the important work and 'liked' it on Facebook...

I just saw them in Dallas, such an incredible show. They were saying that playing in CO is kind of an issue generally, how ridiculous is that? If any of you in CO want to help make more shows happen for TP, let's talk!

a sad but true observation. Where I live, we have a lot of problems with people saying they are coming to an event when in fact they just clicked a button. The bonus is after the fact, they complain about missing the show and that they didn't know about it.

It isn't just where you live, unless you are referring to where you live in the grand sense, as in "the world today".

Sure! And for free! Fuck that $10.00 bullshit for three bands. For the exposure! So we can all sit on our asses and not move from our comfy chair and not have to pay for anything.

    p.s.

I like concert recordings (i.e. concert dvds) as much as the next guy, but anyone who thinks a 'streamed concert' has the same thrill as actually being at a good concert, has obviously never attended a good concert.

    IMO.

That was one fantastic Prog eclectic concert night! Approx. 80 sold seats in my estimation, with a handful of fans travelling from northern and neighboring states....
