I blame Wynton, what was the question?
There are only 10 types of people in the World, those who understand binary and those that don't.
Heresie and Uzed.
First three are my favorites. Happy happy! Though Heatwave might be closer to the sound on Uzed.

Great thanks guys!
The live album is superb
oh Crawling Wind nevr gets any praise yet for me its right up there
Ceux du Dehors.
Then the first two, more acoustic and ardently "chamber-like", Univers Zero (1313) and Heresie. But be aware; this is frightfully sombre tone...
"Improvisation is not an excuse for musical laziness" - Fred Frith
"[...] things that we never dreamed of doing in Crimson or in any band that I've been in," - Tony Levin speaking of SGM
The one that sounds closest to Uzed is Heatwave - Ceux du Dehors is probably the most impressive.
- Just get them (all).
I disagree with that you should get the two earliest first. Get Crawling Wind before them, it has both the sinister elements and the sparkling virtuosity.
my music collection increased tenfolds when I switched from drug-addicts to complete nutcases.
If I would have to choose only three Univers Zero albums I would choose these: Ceux du Dehors, Uzed, Live (2006).
But all that UZ ever did is fine by me.

I agree with those who say Heatwave is the closest, and it contains the greatest prog epic of the 1980s: "The Funeral Plain."
The truth will set you free, but first it will piss you off
Ceux du Dehors and Uzed are my favourites too.
Cool.i just ordered heresie, ceux du dehors, heatwave and crawling wind.
Cool. Amazing band! Great for weddings, bar mitzvahs, funerals, graduations, etc.
Ceux will always be my favorite.

Listening to Ceux du Dehors. WOW!!!!
honestly, I like when their not trying to sound like Halloween music (1313) I like their Avant twist on Symph which is best exemplified on Heatwave and Uzed, but I also like The Hard Quest and the new one Phosphorescent Dreams
Why is it whenever someone mentions an artist that was clearly progressive (yet not the Symph weenie definition of Prog) do certain people feel compelled to snort "thats not Prog" like a whiny 5th grader?
Your next stop is Present.
Does it matter that this waste of time is what makes a life for you?
The Hard Quest is one of my favorites. They vanished for a few years prior to it's release. Heatwave gave high expectations to people regarding the follow up and the year or two of disappearance built those high ideals in people when they caught wind of their return. Some people were let down by The Hard Quest for that reason only. It can't be compared to Heatwave only because it's approach in composition revolves around new/different ideas. It wasn't an album that was suppose to be thought of as much less complex than Heatwave ...as it should have been thought to be a venture into a different approach. The Hard Quest is a more moody album of twists and turns along with some atmospheric soundscape sections fitting to a subtle but mysterious horror film score. Don't pass on The Hard Quest because after absorbing at least 6 or 7 Univers Zero titles, The Hard Quest will stand alone in darkness persuading your ear and mind with it's uniqueness. Some people in the past have said that all Univers Zero albums are unique, but The Hard Quest is more unique than the rest of the discography because it doesn't grab the listeners attention immediately like Heatwave or Uzed...but instead lures you in over time. I can listen to The Hard Quest while having coffee early in the morning. There is additionally something very dreamy about it. A bit like dreams or a dreamscape. It's in a world of it's own.
Present are very interesting as well.
Oh Jeez, What Present do i need?
