Not just a Genesis fanboy.
Is this some kind of joke??
Woah. I had no idea that his recent sickness was anywhere near that level.
He will be sorely missed.
WANTED: Sig-worthy quote.
So sad!
"Alienated-so alien I go!"
Terrible news, may he rest in peace.
A true legend, one of my heroes. RIP Chris.
All I can say is WOW also. Had no idea that it was that bad. Dam that was quick. Quicker than Guy Leblanc and Daevid Allen!
RIP Chris, the only member of YES to be with everything if do recall?
Jeez I hope we are done with these obits for awhile, quite sad lately
Wow. I kind of knew that his prognosis wasn't too good, but I had no idea it would happen so soon. Thank you, Chris, for the FANTASTIC music and endless joys that you have brought to so many people. You will absolutely be missed by millions.
I was not optimistic when I read about the prognosis for his illness, but you're still never ready for the news. Chris was a musical hero, and one of the biggest reasons I became and remained a Yes fan. I'm gutted ...
Say what you will about Yes, but this bassline and "21st Century Schizoid Man" made me a prog fan.

Horrible news. Very sad, what a loss... he will be immensely missed by myself and so many others around the world! I'll always remember seeing him from the 4th. row, completely stealing the show from the rest of the band.

I'm gutted. Had no idea his sickness was so advanced. There are few bass players in rock music that I've ever really paid attention to. When I got into this prog craze 15-16 years ago I started paying more attention to bass players. Chris was the first to make me really pay attention. Rest in peace Chris.
Oh no - this is terrible news -RIP Chris and thank you for all the great music.
Bloody awful....but when this news about his condition initially broke, I was expecting it, to be honest. The abruptness of it is a surprise, though.
Truly one of *the* great rock musicians of his generation, with a sound all his own. Anyone who disputes that, look at the comments about the Rickenbacker within this concurrent Steve Hoffman Forum thread, says it all:

A very sad day, and really the end of an era in many ways.
RIP.

Playing Fish Out Of Water, an album that has never made me sad until now.

Terrible news. To say he is an influence on myself and others here is an understatement. He will be sorely missed.
Eagles may soar, but weasels don't get sucked into jet engines.
No words.... I am totally stunned. RIP Chris and thanks

Saddest musician passing for me since George Harrison. We've lost another legend.
To say I'm devastated is an understatement. I am at a loss for words.
