Music isn't about chops, or even about talent - it's about sound and the way that sound communicates to people. Mike Keneally
You bought the album!
You saw the tour!
You saw the film!
You bought the live album!
You bought the Berlin DVD!
You bought the In the Flesh DVD!
You...zzzzzzzzzzz....
<sigh>
May I suggest "I've hit the wall" as a subtitle?
"I want to be someone, who someone would want to be." Marillion
Roger Waters is The Wall in "Roger Waters'' 'The Wall'."
I have the PF album. I have his Berlin DVD & his "In the Flesh" CD/DVD.
"The Wall" never resonated with me. I know the world tour was something to behold, but I'm not that much of a completed/masochist to want another dose of something I don't particularly like. I'll pass.
And I'm sure he won't be saddened by my decision.
I would be interested in giving a listen to any new music he might still have in him.
I've got a bike you can ride it if you like
Wow. Until this thread, I never realized just how they milked that cow.
Geoff Tate has some catching up to do with Operation: Mindcrime.

I liked the album at the time it came out, even though I thought it completely fell apart on side 4 after Run Like Hell, but it hasn't aged well at all for me. When a person's favorite song on the album is Vera, that might be an indication. It's a cliche about responses to this album, but dude, you weren't the only one who's ever had a father killed in a war, you weren't the only person who never knew their father. Honest.
I saw the tour at the Los Angeles Sports Arena, it wasn't the night the curtains caught on fire unfortunately. It was easily one of the most boring concerts I've ever been to. Sure, it was state-of-the-art in terms of the production, but after a certain point, they might as well been playing a tape of the album, there was no spontaneity at all for obvious reasons. It was also an expensive ticket for the time, $15 (about $45 today), all for less than 85 minutes of music. I heard a lot of complaints afterwards that they didn't play any of the "hits" too.
As for "new music", I doubt it. I'd like to see him do a tour where the ads say "There will be no Pink Floyd songs played, only Roger Waters solo stuff", I doubt he'd be playing stadiums and hockey arenas then.
...or you could love
"We don't need to make new music."
"Henry Cow always wanted to push itself, so sometimes we would write music that we couldn't actually play – I found that very encouraging." - Lindsay Cooper, 1998
"I have nothing to do with Endless River. Phew! This is not rocket science people, get a grip." - Roger Waters, 2014
"I'm a collector. And I've always just seemed to collect personalities." - David Bowie, 1973
Awesome, looking forward to this as I missed this tour! Release the Earl's Court video too!!

Mother do you think I can milk this anymore?
It's funny that once upon a time, Roger Waters accused his former bandmates of milking their former glories, but that's exactly what he's been doing for the last 15 years. The first time I saw him, in 99, 3/4's of the show was Floyd songs. The second time I saw him, I dare say it was a little more than that, including the whole of Dark Side Of The Moon. Having said that, I still wish I could have seen him do The Wall a few years ago.

Roger and Billy Joel must have had a talk about how to live completely on past glories. Nice work if you can get it but I would love to see something new from both of them. I think we will see a new Peter Gabriel album first.
DVD of the tour from a coupla years ago is my guess
Why is it whenever someone mentions an artist that was clearly progressive (yet not the Symph weenie definition of Prog) do certain people feel compelled to snort "thats not Prog" like a whiny 5th grader?
The album is a masterpiece and I feel he is right to celebrate it as long as he can.
My only gripe, was altering / removing some of the Scarfe animations on his last tour.

Anyway, last time I had anything to do with stuff frm the Wall, is was the Is There Anybody Out There boxset, abnd that was 15 years ago...
I haven't seen Waters' show, so either seeing it on a giant movie screen or eventually buying the DVD a year down the line is not like a big deal...
from whatever short footage I saw , the Wall show is much more impressive nowadays than it was in 1980... the only thing missing nowadays would be Dave, Nick & Rick
my music collection increased tenfolds when I switched from drug-addicts to complete nutcases.

That would be difficult, but I've only seen the original. It would be very hard to top.
Yeah, but it still makes him look like a hypocrite when he does the exact same thing he accused Gilmour, Wright and Mason of doing.
As far as his solo material being ignored or savaged, that's what happens when you forget to write some songs to go with you Big Societal Statement.
I've got the video of one of the Nassau Coliseum shows, and I think it was one of the London shows I saw on Youtube some years back. I thought both of those looked pretty great. Well, except for on the London show, there was closeups of the surrogate band, where you could plainly see that they were wearing rubber masks (definitely an effect that works better when you're 20 or more feet away from the musicians on the night, or watching a grainy bootlegged video, as is the case with the Nassau Coliseum show). Loved the bit in the Nassau Coliseum show where the MC's "health and safety" speech after The Show Must Go On gets cut off mid sentence by the band launching into In The Flesh.
