New David Hasselhoff song and video

"True Survivor," the theme song for a film called Kung Fury.

This video is as ridiculous as it gets, but halfway through - yes, I made it that far - the song itself really reminded me of some lost Asia demo or outtake.

    Despite popular demand...

Well, I made it through the whole video. Whew!!

Was that from the 80s, or were they going for a "period piece?"

And, every time I thought that it couldn't get any cheesier, it keep one-upping itself. I guess they figured you can't top riding off into the sunset on the back of a dinosaur.

    That's only fair.

Uh-huh. That says a lot about Asia in fact.

The music isn't that bad. The only thing I liked about de video, was the car, though it should be black, or perhaps red. If this is a promotion for a movie, I think the movie is even far worse than a B movie.

Ummm, are you SERIOUS???? To me it's the worst kind of cookie-cutter corporate rock, with a drum machine, skank keyboards, lame lyrics and wholly predictable chard changes.

    YMMV

It's not terrible, sometimes I hear much worse.

But then again, Asia are pretty darn good as well - right? A little? Bit? Please...?

Damn....if you listen to it without the visuals it does sound like an old Asia track.

In this case, it should be spelled: "Assia"

Yes, but not if it's the "real" Asia. Then the music's suddenly much better. In fact, we're gonna have Hasselhoff stuff regularly in here now. Highly, highly recommended progressively progressive prog.

The theme to "Knight Rider" is more proggy than anything Asia did.

I like some Asia. Own their first album on vinyl, have 3 DVD's, a live collection, with people screaming through Steve Howe's guitar-solo and a live-CD with an anoying sound-quality.

It's supposed to be pure Gouda anyway.
KUNG FURY is an over-the-top action comedy written and directed by David Sandberg. The movie features: arcade-robots, dinosaurs, nazis, vikings, norse gods, mutants and a super kung fu-cop called Kung Fury, all wrapped up in an 80s style action packed adventure.

Kung Fury takes place in a variety of exotic locations; 1980s Miami, Asgard and Germany in the 1940s, to name a few. With a limited budget to work with, we had to solve this by shooting most of the scenes against a greenscreen backdrop.

    When the golden voice appeared.
She was gold alright, but then so is rust.

That would be an insult to pure Gouda.

And I still don't like cheese.

Nothing against the members of Asia, they are superb players all....but, especially after listening to "Phoenix", Asia is a lot like Hasselhoff in that they havent figured out that the 80s ended decades ago

I am afraid that out of these two only Asia got stuck there, while David Hasselhoff moved forward with his new band.

To be quite honest, I seriously believe Hasselhoff expresses such an understanding pretty well through a certain degree of irony in his delivery. Something I do not see in either Asia or other "prog" acts who seem to think that applying some elements of Bryan Adams or Michael Bolton to their very interesting sound would serve as an alibi to the contemporary valeur of their craft.

I haven't been this entertained by anything Hasselhoff related since watching Knight Rider at the age of 8. Even beats the day I saw overdubbed Baywatch on German TV.
