The Trevor Horn Band feat. Geoff Downes!!!

If I lived in London I would attend this gig!!!

Former Yes man hooks up with his bandmates from The Producers for March gig
The Trevor Horn Band will play a one-off London show next month.

Former Yes man Horn will be backed by his The Producers bandmates Steve Lipson, Lol Creme and Ash Sloan for the gig at the city’s Shepherd’s Bush Empire on March 5. Geoff Downes will be on keyboard duty while Seal will provide the vocals.

Horn says: “I’m really looking forward to playing live again and I’m very happy that Seal can do the show. We’ve been working on his album for a year now and I’m just glad that we’re still talking and he’ll come and play.

“I’ve also got my old buddy Geoff Downes playing main keyboards so it promises to be a great night and there will be more special guests announced soon.”

The band will play tracks from throughout Horn’s career including Owner Of A Lonely Heart, Video Killed The Radio Star, Two Tribes and The Plastic Age.

I thought their debut cd a few years ago was fantastic. Hope this means there's a new one coming soon....is there any news of a follow up release?

The Producers CD is my favorite of the millennium, thus far. I so hope they record this show.

I hope they actually play some stuff from that Producers album. I seem to recall that they all played together shortly after the album was released, but they only played stuff from their various careers - nothing from the album.

Note also that it's called "The Trevor Horn Band" and not "The Producers". I would go see this were it near my place. A second Producers-album would be fantastic!

Being in the States, I really hope this is recorded for a concert DVD! Years ago I saw a tribute to Trevor on AXS TV and it was great!

    (emphasis mine)

I find it interesting that songs Horn produced are considered part of his personal repertoire -- and rightly so, IMO.

And how cool is it to have Seal fronting this group -- that I'd pay to see.
I'm holding out for the Wilson-mixed 5.1 super-duper walletbuster special anniversary extra adjectives edition.

Garden of Flowers is pop at its best. Brings tears to my eyes. Classic Horn melodies and a koller vocal Deliverer. The rest of the album does not do much for me though.

I suspect the set will not include much of the Producers material. (I wonder whether some of the album isn't too personal for Horn to want to come back to.) Indeed, most of the set has been pre-announced: see http://www.bondegezou.co.uk/wnalum.htm#horn for details.

Will there be a second Producers album? Well, the core band (Horn/Lipson/Creme/Soan) remain close as far as I can see. Not long after the first album came out, they had talked about continuing the band, but I can't recall anyone specifically talking about new material. The band members continue to work together on other projects (so Horn, Soan and Downes all perform on Billy Idol's Kings & Queens of the Underground, while Creme has also been involved in the Seal album). I think the next big project from these people will be the Horn/Creme co-written musical about a day in the life of a recording studio.

Henry, do you know how well the Producers album sold commercially? Like some of the folks mentioned above, I thought it was a very good album. It definitely deserved more attention than it got. Is it possible that they wouldn't do a 2nd album because the first one wasn't comsidered a success? If so, that would be a shame.

Don't know. I suspect it sold worse than most projects Horn works on because most projects he works on are big sellers. But if Horn was only interested in the money, he wouldn't have done the first album or these band shows. The band began very much as a fun thing, a low-key way of doing a bit of live playing. Then they're having so much fun they write an album. Then, as it not uncommon for Trevor Horn projects, the whole thing is slowly polished into an album, the project becomes a bit more professional, they start playing to significant audiences... but I don't know quite how they see it among themselves. Is this a fun thing that merely needs to break even? Or are they trying to expand this into a bigger enterprise?

I think that, although uploaded recently, was from their Mar 2012 tour in support of the album. More recent sets haven't covered the album.

Please tell me it doesn't involve a guy in the basement writing a concerto to keep the world from ending...

A pretty cool 17-minute interview with Trevor, where he talks about this upcoming gig, what songs Seal likes to sing, the upcoming Seal album, his experience of joining Yes, and his legacy:

Forgot about this. The first album didn't go out of print yet, did it?

No, but it never received a US release in the first place: just UK, Germany and Japan IIRC.
