    RIP Raphael Ravenscroft

I didn't see it mentioned here yet, but a fellow-PE-poster told me that Raphael Ravenscroft died three days ago.

No, very sad news. While his Baker Street solo is great, it's the one from The Gunner's Dream on The Final Cut that I love best.

    RIP, Ravenscroft

LOL, on his Wikipedia page Ravenscroft says Baker Street irritated him because it's out of tune.

In his spare time he was a Battle Of Britain fighter station.

    A what?

He also played on David Gilmour's 1984 solo tour, which is actually where I remember first hearing him (I honestly don't remember if I heard Baker Street before 1984 or not).

    RIP Raphael

That was from the Pythonesque liner notes of the Brand X album that he played on.
A LONGER APRIL (Giblin) - Played by John Goodsall, Robin
Lumley, John Giblin, Philip Collins, and RAF Ravenscroft,
who in his spare time is a Battle Of Britain fighter
station. All the sound effects, i.e. ducks, birds,
rainfall, and ants having their feelers stapled together
    were recorded live.

Yeah, those Brand X-liner notes were very funny. A lot of them disappeared when the albums were released on CD.
