Unless I misread something, you can download disc 1 or 2 separately, but the physical media is a 2 CD set.

You may be right on the DL vs. CD thing, Dave. I jumped the gum, thought I was pre-ordering a CD and will now have a DL in a month or so. Oh well. If it helps the band, no big deal. I'll still get the CD as I really don't do a whole lot of non-physical medium listening.
