Finally got to see them last week in Minneapolis. I was very glad I drove the 4hrs. each way, it was worth it to catch this bucket list band live! My seat was 2nd row way over to the right side, but...

Finally got to see them last week in Minneapolis. I was very glad I drove the 4hrs. each way, it was worth it to catch this bucket list band live! My seat was 2nd row way over to the right side, but...
Can't believe this hasnt been posted yet. Allen passed away yesterday at age 70. Totally unexpected apparentely. No details yet. I am so shocked and saddened. Never got to see him live- was no. 1 on...

Top 10:
1)Inconsolable Secret
2)Shadowlands
3)Culture of Ascent
4)If
5)Cor cordium
6)Lex Rex

8)Perelandra
9)Valkyrie
Whatever happened to the great rock chick fans like a wife of a friend of mine who got a piece of Ty Tabor's guitar neck stuck in her arm after a King's X concert I n '94, and she was showing it and...
Its very simple to me. Jon Anderson is the voice of the classic YES. But that band realistically does not exist nor ever will again. So I judge each incarnation on how close it sounds to the...
The last 3 songs are killer, esp. the title track. Very emotional, and hauntingly sublime guitar work.
Enjoying what Im hearing so far on youtube. Went ahead and ordered it. "Meaningless" is mesmerizing. love that song!
Got "Maps of Non-Existent Places" last week, so been wearing it out. I think "Blood on the Radio" is now my fav by them. I think I like this overall equally with "Stranger Heads Prevail" but there...
I absolutely love this disc. Listen to it every few months. Like the Glass Hammer trio of YES clone discs, its fresh enough and so well written that as "Yes" like as they are, they stand on their own...
I would love to see Glenn. He was supposed to come to the area I was in earlier this year and cancelled. They did that song with Black Country Communion and nailed it too.
I rediscover this album about once a year-Oh boy, I love it! Never could get into much of their other stuff. This album was so far ahead of its time in so many ways-Power trio, down tuning ala Black...
I think it is definitely Kansas' time. Hell , they have two of the biggest staple AOR radio hits of all time. And with their resurgence, its the perfect time. ELP should at least be nominated for...
Listening to their EP, The Perils of time Travel now. Seems a little more progressive metal than the others. Do I hear keyboards and less brass? Very good debut.
Im a huge Umphreys fan too and have seen them 7 times including a three night stint earlier this year, but have to admit some of the jamming went on too long and got a little old and tired at times....
Even though their music is so different than Umphrey's McGee-I do see the similarities, esp. in the audience. It really excites me to see young bands with such talented musicians-whatever the genre....
This is my list in order, but that order may or may not change with time:
1)Neal Morse Band-Similitude of A Dream
2)Thank You Scientist-Stranger Heads Prevail
3)Anderson/Stolt-Invention of...
Can't believe I can't find any threads on this band. Found out about them a few weeks ago from one of the Prog Best lists of 2016. Have listened and watched their videos on youtube, and just got a...
Portnoy hyperbole totally aside, I'm absolutely loving it! About 5 or 6 listens in, definetely his most consistant-not a weak track, and hardly even a weak moment. What I love is how concise the...
I finally got it! After 2 listens I can honestly say this will be one of my fav of Neal's and most likely Mt favorite disc of the yr. I was really afraid I would be disappointed because of the hype...
Still waiting......Didn't order early enough I guess.
"Arrival" is very good. Very cerebral, beautiful cinematography, direction, and music. Amy adams makes it her movie, but the visuals are equally stunning.
Wow! when did u order?
And the funny thing is that the hyperbole is coming from Mike, not Neal. In fact, in the recent interview I watched Neal was very humble and cautious about his comments concerning the new album He...
Just pre-ordered. Can't wait. The newest video "the ways of the fool" is great. Nice video concept and bright poppy song with once again great vocals from Bill and Eric. Definitely in the prog pop...
Yes sorry its black mirror. And the new season is out on Netflix. Was kinda disappointed in this season overall, except for episode 6 which is just mind-blowing and possibly yhe best of the whole...
I'm so glad I didn't travel to see this tour. Sounds like I would have been majorly disappointed. The set list is so disappointing. The only highlight is Awaken, and I'm sorry but Awaken is not the...
my ticket from 75 was $5.50. '77 was $6.50, and '79 was $7.00.
So I just found this on netflix a couple days ago and I'm hooked. I've watched all but one episode. This is hands down the most disturbing and engrossing show ever! Sometimes more far fetched than...
It may be slow, but for the most part it is not boring, or repetitive. Very mesmerizing and intense at times. Think I like it as good or better than anything since marbles. Best vocal mix in a long...
Just got it and digging it alot. Alot of tull vibe. The bonus disc is really strong two with 3 live tracks with orchestra. The second track had a great retro vibe.
Wow what a setlist. Chasing shadows, I cards 1 and 2,, all of leftoverture. Journey and lamplight. So much better than their most recent tours and so much longer! Got to be at least 2hrs. They've...
Just ordered it. Couldn't do the pre order cause didn't know new address til today. Can't wait. No man's land is great and so different, jazzy, and almost crimson like
Just a Game! Lay it on the line is my favorite tune of theirs. They put on as good a show as Rush back in the day!
I agree with a lot of what you're saying but I do think it will have more staying power than H&E. It has much more energy even though I like H&E more than most. The reason it sounds like Kansas...
Sry. I know it's dive not drive. Love their Jackson five Covery recorded live on the street.
Sry. I know it's dive not drive. Love their Jackson five Cover recorded live on the street.
Lake Street drive are awesome. Saw them at a free outdoor concert last year and was blown away. Lead singers voice is stunning. Amazing female bass player. And the guitarist/trumpet player is great...
How bout Magnum Opus Two!
From what I've heard I'm very encouraged and optimistic about it. The songwriting seems to be pretty fresh and inventive. It's an auto buy for me tom.
I just discovered her and am totally blown away. What an incredibly unique talent. Her voice is to die for and reminds me so much of Joni at times. And then add the fac that she is such an...
I love both the classic SB stuff and most of Neal's solo stuff. I do feel like alot of his solo stuff got very "samey" esp. the Lifeline and Momentum period. The Grand Experiment was a step forward,...
i Liked the song on the video alot. Sounded more like elefante era to me, but the writing was pretty strong considering no livgren or walsh. looking forward to it. Platt's voice sounds very strong....
Sounds great!
No earthly connection. Brings back lots of great memories of when I first bought it and brought it home and opened it up and saw the completely cool and cheesy props. But the music still stands up...
I agree. I didn't like it so much when it came out cause it wasn't Jon and honestly hated Trevor's vocals. Geoff was ok, but no Rick. The rest of the band was on fire, and the music was really good...
Now that I think more about it, if they would have achieved any more success they wouldn't be able to be so accessible to their fans. I was very impressed with the sold-out turn out in minneapolis...
Yea, the Holy Trinity got me too. Sorry Steve, you have contributed as much if not more to the signature sound of YES for 45 years, but apparantely you are not HOLY.
LMAO. Maybe a new synthetic drug that allows you to relive all past trama and change the outcome.
Ok here's my problem with ARW: for all the hype about the Holy trinity, thsee three have never recorded together and didn't appear together on any of the songs they will be playing. And they have no...
What I find so cool about them us their humility and true gratefulness for the fans that have kept them going all these years. Dug even said as much repeatedly during the show. And another thing:...
Awesome show in minneapolis last night. Great sold out crowd. Impeccable mix and sound. Ty and Jerry were on fire, and Dug's vocals were great even though he can't scream like he used to. Most...
Where I'm coming from I guess is that I feel like if more were exposed to them and gave them a chance they would love and appreciate them as much as me. But that's not the real world I guess. I never...
So I'm getting to see one of my favorite bands for only the third time next week, and it brings up the age old question about this power trio, even though they are not a per-se 'prog" band, they are...
Dont understand the hate for this album, never will. Love everything on it except circus of Heaven. When this album was released and they toured it, I was 16! i'll never forget it! but its not just...
All I know is that what I've seen so far on youtube of the tales cuts is pretty darn tight. Esp. Geoff's parts. Granted the end of ritual was kinda weak. But this is by far the most challenging...
Two good possibilities.
Absolutely. All virtuosos, reminds you how good Tony and Peter were too. The music was dated some, but they were all so far ahead of their time musically and as performers. Just watch Chris and Bill!
That would be ASTONISHING! sry DT.
I think the reason so many are so hard on this incarnation of the band is because of the unmatchable high standard they set in their heyday('72-'79). Personally, I think they sound as good or tighter...
