I blame Wynton, what was the question?

I finally yesterday got Stormy Six album Macchina Maccheronica (1980). I really like their last three albums (L'apprendisat,Macchina Maccheronica and Al Volo) but I am not so familiar with their earlier output. Any suggestions?

^ The debut, L'Idee di Oggi (1969), features esteemed singer/songwriter Claudio Rocchi and is a canto/folk-pop affair with psychedelic touches. It's fairly Ok for what it is, but more resembles Rocchi's early solo works than later SSix.
L'Unità (1972) loses the mock-psych altogether and goes for a purely song-based, sometimes even good time-jazzy variation on the folk-pop recipé which is now more akin to Buffalo Springfield or the debut CSN or even Poco. Lyrics are getting more political and, honestly, some of their tunes are actually quite cozy ("Pontelandolfo", "Sciopero!") - but don't expect anything remotely radical in the musics department here. These are straight-up hummables.
Guarda Giù Dalla Pianura (1974) sees them change 90 degrees into an almost entirely acoustic, militant protest-singer's collective and is -not- a rock record. For completists, but frankly the single SSix album I never find myself listening to.
Un Biglietto del Tram (1975) successfully marries the radical/militant marxist agenda to some truly fine arrangements for acoustic guitars and violins, eventually adding electric bass and drums. It's a concept album and a much loved one, especially with the Italian left, and some of these songs are admittedly highly creative and listenable and with an obvious "progressive" streak to some of it. Not quite 'there' yet, but antecedents to L'Apprentista can be heard here.
So start with Biglietto or the instrumental soundtrack album Cliché from '76, which has several older songs rearranged for this more advanced new setup. It's still not as groundbreaking as that debut Asia, though.

No indication of whether we'll see a physical product.
EDIT: OK, the answer to that was “we'll see it today”, as the page has now been updated with a CD.

The new Worldservice Project album is out today:

Kinda pronk jazz, not really sure if it fits here or not, but it's fun.
Any In Love With fans here? If so you need to check out Sylvain Darrifourcq's other project Darrifourcq Hermia Ceccaldi. This magnificent trio just released cool new album Kaiju Eats Cheeseburgers. It is more avant-jazz than avant-prog but I am sure you will like it.

The new Harri Kuusijärvi Koutus album, Mirage, just dropped:

I think it's tremendous. Just give a listen to the tracks Safari or Dark Matter.
Snippets from a forthcoming album on D&D by an outfit called Mange Ferraille:

Seems like some minimalistic noise prog, I'll be interested to hear more.

Thanks, sounds really good on first listening. I looked him up on Discogs and found Harri has been involved in a lot of albums other than the Koutus ones., so there are lots to dig into. I just listened to the two tracks on Utopanisti II which he guests on and was quite impressed. I shall now have to listen my way through Utopanisti's back catalogue - not such an onerous task on a wet day!
To my ears the pick of the Utopianisti albums is The Third Frontier. The first two as I recall it have some programmed drums, but the third one is the product of a touring band with a proper (and very good) drummer.
Another project that Harri Kuusijärvi has been involved in that is well worth hearing is Hyväluoma Group (Discogs doesn't list his participation on this one, but it is most certainly him). Their one album Reflection is not easy to get on CD, but worth it.
I really think that in a post-Hollmer world Harri has established himself as the accordionist to watch within our cherished sphere of 'funny music'.
