How about this supposed quote from Robert Fripp regarding giving Al Stewart guitar lessons..
Interesting fact: Robert Fripp, Greg Lake and Al Stewart were apparently in the same music class. I just haven't sourced whether it was at the same time, but it is interesting that Fripp said this in an interview in November, 1978: "When I was eleven, that is twenty-one years ago, I understood that the conventional methods for teaching guitar were poor. Good rock’n’roll guitarists have always refused to take lessons. This symptom proved that guitar manuals were inefficient. At 13, I was teaching guitar. At 14, I drew my own exercises. I gave Al Stewart lessons, he has always ignored my recommendations. I taught until age 21. I have never been a good teacher, by my exercise system, I believe, works very well. There is still a lot of work to do, but I hope my method will be ready in two years. It is, in my opinion, a giant step forward in teaching a musical instrument. this method will first and foremost save time to someone who wants to learn seriously to play guitar, not as an amateur but as a real guitarist."
Pulled out the ELP 40th Anniversary Reunion concert friday night, and I have to say, Greg Lake's voice is just sooooooooooo good.
He's got this timbre and power that sounds so great.
Interesting how his and John Wetton's careers kept crossing paths and there are similarities to their voices, but the power goes to Greg and the choirboy goes to John.
Rest in peace to two very talented musicians who gave me and still give me much joy.

Wether sarcasm or not I always found year of the cat a brilliant album albeit not progressive

I will take "Year of the Cat" over "Love Beach" any day of the year.
What's your source? That Lake interview with Crowe appeared in the August 1974 issue of Hit Parader. http://ladiesofthelake.com/cabinet/hitparader74.html
Is this photo you posted Photoshopped?

If he was saying this about the latest Mud album it would make more sense.
Then there's the quote from Neville Chesters the famous roadie who worked for Jimi Hendrix, the Who and Cream and who was Greg Lake's personal road manager for a time in the early 70s. I can only paraphrase:
"There's toothache, there's headache and there's Greg Lake."
My favorite quote from Greg was the one where he said that ELP could have made more great albums if they had not turned into the orchestra thing... I can always dream about that
Would be a surprise if ELP didn't hear "Year of the Cat" until three years after its release.
There's a lot of weird Al stuff floating around the internet these days. I just saw a pic of ELP with Al and a camel.
The Prog Corner
I remember Keith saying that even years later, after they got back together, Greg and Carl still kvetched about the orchestra thing occasionally. "We'd have been millionaires if it hadn't been for you and your bloody orchestra!", I think is what Keith said he'd often hear from the other two.
But I don't think the orchestra was specifically the problem, though it was sort of symbolic of the split between Keith and Greg, which I think was the real problem with that group.
I love John Wetton's voice, always have been a fan and always will, but the timbre to my ears are different with the deeper rich one going to Lake, and John has a sweet warm tone.
Everyone has different ears and your mileage may differ. lol

Another "interesting" quote by Lake from the quoted article :
"The first date we played was the Isle of Wight festival, and 6,000,000 people showed up."
6 million ?!?
According to Wikipedia, it was actually 600,000. But it wouldn't be very ELP not to multiply it by ten !
(To be fair, it was possibly a transcription error rather than a claim actually made by Lake.)
