I really like the album Princess of the Allen Keys by Noisy Diners. It's a project of Italian progger Cristiano Roversi. It's pretty much in the retro-symphonic range, but doesn't sound dated. Excellent musicianship reins and there are male and female vocals. Nad Sylvan sings on several tracks and IMO he sounds better here than on his solo albums. Several tracks are on You Tube and here's one of them:
This is perfect for those, like me, who will always embrace the music of prog-Genesis or bands like IQ.

Day dawns dark...it now numbers infinity.
Well, THAT was confusing! Especially with the last couple of tracks taking place in current times (I think!). But it had some good playing, and yes, it sounds retro but not dated. But the narration and vocals are all over the place. If it had been in Italian it would have been less confusing!
How about a three pack of new Norwegian greatness, anyone?
Caligonaut "Magnified As Giants"
Tusmorke "Nordisk Krim"
Kerrs Pink "Presence Of Life"
All three are HIGHLY recommended. By me. Enjoy.

Perhaps it is just my musical tastes, but the year has gotten off to a slow start for me. In 2020, there were so many great releases that I could barely keep up. In 2021, I have only bought two albums so far:
Francois Thollot - Happy Lockdown
Elephant 9 - Arrival of the New Elders
This doesn't mean that a lot of great music hasn't been released in 2021, but just not in my wheelhouse.

So far
Heliochrysum - Forbidden Structures
Nun Gun - Mondo Decay
Sumatran Black - A Taxonomy of Grief
Mogwai - As the Love Continues
Dag Rosenqvist - Vråen Centrum
Nun Gun might be of interest to some folks, maybe...an Algiers offshoot that has Ulver "Perdition City" vibes blended with maybe Massive Attack and 70's noir thriller soundtracks (one track also sounds like they sampled Frizzi's score to Zombi, if that's any reference).
