I wonder if Rob & Chad ever tried to get Grobschnitt over to perform at NEARfest? Seems they would have been an obvious choice.

Thanks, but what a complete blur it was and is now, as it entailed hundreds and hundreds of estrogen laden screaming girls grabbing my binoculars and knocking over anyone in their path to get a closer glimpse at the Fab Four as they performed "she loves you yeah, yeah, yeah" (almost inaudibly, as the screams drowned out most of the 31 minute set). Charles Finley paid them the (then) huge sum of $150,000 to stop at Municipal Stadium in Kansas City (09/17/64). My parents doled out $8 for me to see what they described at the time as a bunch of untalented, long haired creeps. Hey, at least they were more fun than watching the cellar dweller KC Athletics lose another doubleheader.

I know about three or four people who got to see The Beatles, and they all say teh same thing, "I saw The Beatles, I didn't really hear them". Imagine if they had the kind of PA systems that bands had even 10 years later. I imagine if The Beatles could have the Grateful Dead's Wall Of Sound!

I treasure that gig, although it was the tour to their last Studio Album "Fantasten" (which was rather poor) it was an awesome set.

These guys knew to put on a Show even in the small club this was happening. I'm very glad to have experienced a Version of Solar Music
    live.

I know I posted to this thread when it made its first rounds, but I have a few additions:

How was the FM concert? I recall their first album "Indiscreet" when it came out in 1986, with "Frozen Heart" being a single with some airplay. I noticed their follow up albums in the bins in the (used to be) record stores around town. Appears as if they are still around today.

I'm not sure, but I think you mean another FM.

I don't think so, unless he meant the Canadian space/rock band from earlier on. I doubt it though, since the FM band I mentioned opened for a lot of famous bands, including Foreigner. Arturs, can you elaborate on which one it is?

    ELP
    YES

    Gentle Giant
    Magma
    PFM
    Banco
    Il Balleto di Bronzo

    Museo Rosenbach
    Return to Forever
    Weather Report
    Camel
    Hatfield and the North
    Mike Oldfield
    Sebastian Hardy
    Gong
    Genesis
    Supersister
    Focus
    Univers Zero
    Ange
    Shylock
    Mona Lisa
    Zappa
    Arti & Mestieri
    SBB

I am sure there are quite a few more...
And if there were a god, I think it very unlikely that he would have such an uneasy vanity as to be offended by those who doubt His existence - Russell

You're kidding me, right? You think this is hard rock?!

I suppose you also think Glass Tiger is "hard rock", huh?

Now, this version of the same song, is a different matter:

Well, at least you spelled senility correctly.

As to the Van Halen and Asia question marks, I assume that you are not sure if they pre-date 1975. VH qualifies (1972) but Asia doesn't (1981). Good list, though; I especially am envious of the Chick Corea Electric Band concert, must have been a real treat.

I can't spell for s**t. And yes CCEB was / is excellent. I have seen them multiple times , most memorable shows in The Blue Note in NYC. Literally had my elbows on the stage.

    and then 1976-1979:

And, diversity as well as quantity.
    Devo
    Abba

If Devo had opened for Abba wouldn't that have been a night from heck.

I would have killed to see Devo open for ABBA. . .

The Canadian "progies"... Saw 'em at Progtoberfest just two years ago. IIRC Cam Hawkins said it was the first FM show since Nearfest in 2006.
