Ironside by Ruby Rushton.
https://rubyrushton.bandcamp.com/
- This is the 4th coming studio album from the Edward Cawthorne-Tenderlonious led jazz quartet - Ruby Rushton. (releases April 5, 2019).
"Ironside’ sees the band continuing to push boundaries, and lead the way, with this new genre defying recording. The quartet’s fresh, high energy sound is rooted in the spiritual concepts of John Coltrane and Yusef Lateef, paying homage to The Headhunters and Weather Report heyday, whilst still adopting influences from hip hop, Afrobeat and the UK underground culture."
Great news!.

Highest recommendations with:
Trudi's Songbook Volume One & Two (2019):
https://rubyrushton.bandcamp.com/alb...volume-one-two
The band transport you back to the 70s Headhunters era, whilst still adopting the spiritual concepts of John Coltrane and Yusef Lateef. Audiences can expect to be treated to high energy compositions, fusing flavours of afro beat, hip hop, and Latin jazz.
This limited edition 2xLP deluxe gatefold issue of Trudi’s Songbook: Volume One & Two closes this chapter for the band and paves the way for new material."

Yeah, the Rushton was reminded me of Hancock et al.
The Oracle by Angel Bat Dawid slightly reminds me of Alice Coltrane, although not as gossamer, perhaps. Amazing though she recorded it on her cell phone.
Never heard of Vels Trio, but kinda proggy jazz, keyboard driven.
Just listened to Greg Ward's Stomping Off From Greenwood. This is exactly how I like my modern jazz.
Please don't ask questions, just use google.
Never let good music get in the way of making a profit.
I'm only here to reglaze my bathtub.
Just got my box of Coltrane: The Classic Quartet - Complete Impulse! This will take much study to absorb it all.
I don't like country music, but I don't mean to denigrate those who do. And for the people who like country music, denigrate means 'put down.'- Bob Newhart

Recommended!.
“If Kamasi Washington is spiritual apprentice to sorcerer John Coltrane, then The Cosmic Range are the bastard offspring Seers of Miles Davis and Alice Coltrane, raised on George Clinton's mothership. Get some!”.
