And the Phillies get Noah Syndergaard.
Not my first choice, but hopefully he can get back some of his original stuff.

Read this article on reliever Jesse Chavez this morning:
https://www.mlb.com/news/who-is-most-traded-player-ever
“He's played in less than 15 seasons and been traded nine times -- including once this year. He's won a World Series, he's played in every division and he's probably played for your favorite team.”
Looks like it’s ten times now as the Braves traded Chavez minutes before today’s deadline.

Mets make two minor moves at DH and reliever.

I don't like country music, but I don't mean to denigrate those who do. And for the people who like country music, denigrate means 'put down.'- Bob Newhart
Always hated the Dodgers, but Vin was one of a kind and a class act. RIP.

His like will not be seen again. Much respect.

Happy with what I have to be happy with.
Let me quickly rip off the band-aid to make it less painful to some of us:

Are there any announcers who work the booth solo? Is there anyone out there who could do it? Maybe Bob Uecker?

It seems like the Yankees fucked up yesterday. They traded a solid middle-of-the-rotaton starter in Jordan Montgomery for an injured center fielder who is a great defenseman, but average hitter, in Harrison Bader. Clearly, the move was to get Judge out of center before he breaks down. But they were also working on another deal to get a pitcher that, apparently fell through late in the day.
Seems to me that they ended up short-handed before time ran out.

Best call evAH! ;-)
edit: a piece of useless trivia - the pitch/call came 4:20 into the at-bat (starting from when Stanley was finished warming up....)

LA Angels tied a major league record by hitting seven home runs in one game. Yet, they lost 8-7 to the Oakland A's, the league's worst team.

Mancini hit two homers tonight, one a grand slam.

Man, it certainly looks like the Mets have the Braves’ number this year.
I keep waiting for the Mets to collapse, but perhaps they really have turned a corner.

There is an interesting Twitter poll referenced on Fangraphs today. Here it is:
“The question was:
“Which team would win a seven-game series?
“A. 26-man roster of only MLB pitchers
“B. 26-man roster of only MLB position players
“The latter garnered 63.2% of the vote, while only 36.8% of respondents went with pitchers. Agree with the majority or not, this is a fun one to chew on.”

My thought is the masses got this one wrong. A team of pitchers has an obvious advantage. There are certainly nine pitchers in the league who could filed reasonably well, especially among the younger guys. And I’m sure you could find two or three good enough hitters—Max Fried jumps to mind as does, of course, Ohtani—to put a dent into whatever shortstop-who-pitched-a-little-in-college the position players alone would put up.
Any thoughts?

I definitely will ponder this...
But not until deGrom finishes his work
