Also love 80s Buffett. Floridays and Last Mango are damn good albums.
My sister must have been about the same age when I came home for Christmas that year she was so proud of having bought that album and wanted to know what her big brother thought of her choice of music.. I sat and listened to both sides in one sitting and turned to her and responded.. "It's great.. I'd like to hear his next album".. to this day his debut is the only one I ever bought.. He hit it out of the park with the first one for sure..

Dutch Prog of a sort, from 1982. It’s both good and not good. Hard to explain.

For fans of the SI Music label, I guess.
I saw some funny remarks on Ed Van Otterdyke and thought it would be nice to listen to one of his other CD's, Soundtracks 1. This song is called Opus 891 on my CD, but is also known as Landscapes And Dreams.
    Very Alan Parsons-like:

I don't feel guilty about liking music, but I suppose a lot of people here may not care for Alanis Morissette's Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie, an album I absolutely love.

My excuse is I'm listening only to hear Stuermer and Craney absolutely killing it... Which they are!

Creedence Clearwater Revival - Green River

One of my first favorite bands and still brings back good memories. The connection between music and moments in life are very strong.

Nothin' guilty there. That's one of the most bad-ass songs ever to hit the Top 40.

Hmm... Maybe Phil Collins' No Jacket Required?

Nah, I don't feel guilty about liking that one -- it's a great album!

If I had to pick one I feel guilty for enjoying, maybe Serpents in Camoflage by Citizen Cain.

Bad taste =/= guilty pleasure, IMHO.

TBH, I don't see anything anything in those album to feel guilty about.
these are second rate albums of acceptable groups (yes, even Knack & Trick)
my music collection increased tenfolds when I switched from drug-addicts to complete nutcases.

To be even more honest, that first one there is not a second rate album and is performed by a more than acceptable group (Mr. Walsh to us). The remaining 4 albums are light on the pleasure aspect, in my view.

Something I like that is not held in high regard by the intelligentsia?

    Sade's catalog?

Very good stuff indeed. There was always a jazzy underpinning to her music, even with the soulful ballads. Great, soft and whispery vocals, but the jazz element helped me connect with her works. I think it's held in pretty high regard in most circles.

Thompson Twins "Into the Gap". Actually, I don't feel guilty at all :-)

Love the first Sade album, but TBH, outside two tracks, I didn't care for the second album much, and the following ones didn't bring anything new under the sun.

(It's a band, BTW, even if it is also the singer's middle name)

^ Subsequent Sade albums might not have done anything new compared to the first couple, but with a singer like that did they even need to?

    What a voice.

Actually, her full name is Helen Folasade Adu, but she adopted the professional name Sade Adu (or simply Sade), with the band named the same.

I liked the earlier radio hits off the first two albums but I am of the view that it all came together on the 3rd album, "Stronger Than Pride". Here, the tempo is somewhat slowed down, but much more jazzy and bluesy than the first two releases and the lyrics, like the music, have more of an edge to them. The album even ends with an excellent instrumental piece, "Siempre Hay Esperanza", which Sade co-wrote with the guitarist and backing vocalist of the band. That piece alone is a real eye opener and showed a different approach to her work.

    All About Eve S/T

Brings me back to my college days... and my teenage crush on Julianne Regan. I did actually listen to that album at work today, in between Rush's Power Windows and Freak Kitchen's Move...

Oh come on...a truly guilty pleasure has to be embarrassing. One of mine that fits that bill were the early and middle period albums of Olivia Newton John.

    Those are guilty pleasures!

^ Okay, in that case maybe I'd go with the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack. I still have a soft spot for that one.

^ That album was a dividing line for people when I was in school.
