Renaissance - Scheherazade & Other Stories on Audio Fidelity

Couldn't find a thread about this?
    Anyway, this is coming soon:
    http://www.amazon.com/Scheherazade-O...de+renaissance
According to some at Steve Hoffman it's great. I only have an older release on Repertoire. Apparently it's a bit thin. I don't know. Haven't compared it to anything.
But... if this new AF release is way better I might get it. It's my favorite Renaissance album.

Have any of you heard it already? What's the verdict?

She was gold alright, but then so is rust.

It's by far my favorite Renaissance also and I'm very interested in this release. May have to pull out my vinyl and give it a play to see how good of shape it's in. I forget what CD release I have of this but I know the sound quality is suspect. It would be nice if this SACD is awesome.

I'm going to get it. I agree that the old Repertoire is a bit thin and treble heavy. I thought the Friday was better.

Listening to the 16 bit layer only, its an improvement over the 90's Repertoire.

    Recommended.

I have a fairly recent remastered release of this that came with a second disk with a live concert I think. Sounded pretty good I thought. Was this Esoteric? Can't remember.

I'm intrigued by this. Hoffman usually does a fine job.

Do you know it was mastered by Hoffman? Kevin Gray does many of the AF releases--though his style and approach is very similar to that of Hoffman. In any event, I just ordered this, along with their amazingly good (IMO) new(ish) album.

I could've sworn someone above said it was Hoffman. Gray did a couple of Rush releases that were really great, so it doesn't matter too much.

Artwork says mastered by Kevin Gray.

I had a 1994 German TRC release, which wasn't too bad, but this new AF release is better.
I've listened around three times to the CD layer, and it sounds well-balanced to me.

Does anyone know who released the edition of which I'm speaking?

If this is what Jeff is talking about, your fine quality wise. Let's see what he thinks of the AF

So far, everyone I know who has heard the Friday and AF versions like the AF better. The Friday version was the best version until the AF arrived though, according to others.

I am sure this will beat the pants off the MFSL LP.

If you don't have an SACD player this is a waste, no?

Not a waste of time at all. The CD layer was mastered by Kevin Gray. He's one of the best around.
