CalProg Presents: Pain of Salvation & Vangough Sep 28, 2014

Every now and then CalProg has the distinct honor of “introducing” an incredibly talented band to an audience for the first time. And so it is with the Swedish progressive metal band “Pain of Salvation” as we host their first Southern California appearance at the intimate Center Theater in Whittier. Anyone that has followed progressive rock over the last 10 years has heard about the genius that is Daniel Gildenlow. His angry/hard edged approach to prog music has spawned a truly unique sound that doesn’t really compare to anything else out there. If you like your prog with a little more BITE, then POS is for you. As always you should listen for yourself to the sound clips on the CalProg home page.

Travelling with them on this tour is VanGough. I hadn’t heard of them prior to this booking but after getting their CD I’ve been rather impressed with the quality of writing and the musicianship in this band. All in all it’s an affordable double bill that fits perfectly into the legacy of CalProg.

I'll be in L.A. on the 27th. I'll have to see if I can extend my visit through the 28th!

Just checked out the Vangough site yesterday and was impressed with their sound. This is going to be a heavy show, right up my ally. I have to wonder if the folks at the Whittier Center Theater know what their in for. Regardless, a no brainer for me, I live about three blocks away. Thanks for booking another show at the "old" CalProg theater.
