I didn't know (blank) did (blank)

Heard the song Jukebox Hero on Sirius XM today - I didn't know Foreigner did that. I don't like Foreigner or that song.

I was actually surprised that Grace Slick and the whining windbag from Starship are doing back up on a Heart song.

Who is it about, and who is Frank Bank? Or did you mean Blank? Or was it just a joke?

    Don't know.
"Lumpy" on Leave It To Beaver.
    No, Bank is correct.
An apparently ill-conceived "commentary" on the thread title.

This one happened "back in the day" when the only way I could find out who a song was by was to call the radio station using a rotary dial telephone.
Me: What's the name of this song?
    WRAS DJ: Layla.
    Me: Who is it by?
WRAS DJ: Derek and the Dominos
Me: It sure doesn't sound like a Motown group to me...

I had no idea that Toni Tennille's voice was on the 'The Wall' album until a couple of years ago.
When David Bowie's 'Fame" was a radio hit, I'd read that John Lennon sang on it but I couldn't tell where. I heard it again this year and realized he musti've sung the falsetto backup.
and I finally did some research about that song "What's Going On?" (not Marvin Gaye's). I'd heard it on classic rock radio for a couple of years at work and in that environment I though it was Rush, based on the vocal. Found out it was 4 Non Blonds.

I thought you were referring to the Eno song but that's Blank Frank.

I didn't know (until recently) that Roy Wood played saxes on the Beach Boys album 15 Big Ones.

I went to school with Kyra Sedgewick, but she was a few years younger than me. But I don't know who Mike Stern is.

Presumably he's talking about the fusion guitarist, who played in Miles Davis' first post-retirement in the early 80's.

Look him up on Youtube. He tours once or twice a year. I think him and Eric Johnson might still be touring together in the same band.

Eric Johnson once shopped the same grocery store as Keven Bacon. ;-)

Kevin Bacon used to be convinced that The Beatles were sending him messages in the song "Piggies". He can be heard arguing in this video, sitting on his ATV 'protecting' Spahn Ranch from trespassers.

I didn't know The Band did the song Chest Fever. I always thought it was either Procol Harum or Peter Frampton.

My call to a radio station when I was about 11.

Me: Wow, I love that song you're playing right now. What is it?
    DJ: (muffled) Eddie x..mfs7^xxm
    Me: What?
DJ: I don't know, something about a good street.
    Me: Eddie Goodstreet?
    DJ: Something like that!

More recently, I found it was called 'Sunny Goodge Street' by Tom Northcott.

    Stupid DJ.

Yeah, there were a number of times I would call WRAS late at night to ask about a song and the DJ would be so wasted I couldn't understand a word they were saying.
I remember asking one guy if he could spell it for me and he busted out laughing and said "Man, ahh kin bearly tawk, un yew wont me ta spa-ul? HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

Didn't know Peter Gabriel was on Nursery Cryme or Foxtrot the first time I heard them. To me he sounded just like Phil Collins.

I bought the Stones' 'Happy" 45 before I knew anything about them except who Jagger was. I knew it wasn't Jagger singing lead but had no idea who it was. it was really confusing cause I had thought that Mick sang every song.
